I remember that show... it was fun and stupid!

fun trivia fact: on The Love Boat, there were guest stars that knew Fred Grandy had done this show, and would occasionally call him Walt as an in-joke.

Additional fun fact: some of his congressional staffers also referred to him as Walt

Jeez... All I remember about that show was an opening scene once where a guy opens a can of beer that had the old 70s pull-tab, and dropped the pull-tab into the beer and began drinking. A few moments later he was choking on the pull tab and the EMERGENCY! crew was dispatched to save his life.

I saw this in rerun, I'm sure, since my memories of 1977 are basically gone (long story. Childhood illness) but I still recall thinking "Who's stupid enough to drop the pull tab into the can? That's so dumb!"

For the younger members of the audience: Cans used to have pull tabs that you pulled off the can, instead of pop-tops like they do now. I guess they changed them because this sort of thing was not uncommon in redneck country.

There was a later cartoon called "The Ghostbusters" which was opposite "The Real Ghostbusters". It apparently was made to cash in on the success of the film while using the name and characters that preceded the film after a dispute with Columbia nixed Filmation making the cartoon version.

It was actually because inconsiderate assholes would toss them out like people toss cigarette butts. It's one thing to step on a cigarette butt at a beach, it's a whole other thing to step on a razor sharp piece of aluminum on a sandy beach.

I loved Emergency!, but I was always constantly amazed at how little work Dixie actually did.  Also, when Dr. Early had emergency bypass surgery, he only had a tiny bandage on the left side of his chest.  I guess they used the alternate equipment on him.
