No kidding. Went all the way down to the "if you're not doing anything wrong you have nothing to fear" twaddle.

He writes like a halfwit, too.

"Why would someone feel threaten if you are not doing anything wrong?

Ahh the good old "You have nothing to hide, so you shouldn't care if search you, your car, or your home, riiiiight?"

Farking pig.

Yeah, the Boobies was bad enough.  I looked up his response to all this and he said that sometimes things written in social media can be misunderstood.  What a load of bullshiat.  Here's hoping that "interim" tag turns into "former" and they get someone else to run that department.

Ha! Are you serious? He's a model officer! I mean he just made a $40K bust and already delivered that $30K worth of evidence to be destroyed.

Interim Chief Santiago sounds like a power mad no account dickhead that gives good cops a bad name.

Asswhole doesn't believe in the First Amendment to the Constitution.  I'd like to see him sued for prior restraint, and some kind of 1983 action.

Please. We all know this Sheriff will "find" pot, or something else on the kid and arrest him.

I also like suggestion that *all* crime is the same as far as pursuing it goes.  Yes, I know that it's up to the judge and the law itself to determine the severity and/or punishment but if you have a bunch of gang bangers shooting up Circle K and a white middle class 20-something getting baked on Elm and 3rd and can only send one car, which one are you going after?  The public doesn't need you being a farking robot (or acting like one when it is convenient - which is pretty much an abuse of your authority).

2013-11-01 05:19:01 PM
Good luck with that former interim chief.

And a good defense attorney would get the kid off for reasonable suspicion that it was planted to frame him. After that, civil lawsuit against the PD.

Yeah, why would anyone feel threatened by a Chief of Police who has been accused of planting false evidence saying "we will work on finding you"?

Real Mericans don't hide behind free speech to make their opinions known. Waitaminute. We all do that all the time. And it's a crime?

I did not know that.

I think pot should be legal and I've never smoked it or taken any other illegal substance in my life.*

Nor would I if it were legal.

You going to arrest me too? I'm here in columbia unfortunately. :-(

Can't wait for the money from the wrongful arrest suit.

Even his fellow officers seem to think he's inclined to do so:
Santiago filed a defamation suit in July against a police captain who accused him of plotting to plant illegal drugs and a stolen weapon inside a top city official's vehicle.

Well.. Chief, i have to admit to a crime, i farked your wife and daughter in teh butt, as is how they enjoy it, but forgot to leave my 5 bucks on the dresser with the rest of the change. My bad. My crime is theft of service i guess.

/btw, your wife and daughter owe me $4.80. And no, i won't take a check.

Just to review:

1. interim chief gets trolled by facebook user
2. Member of staff that isn't retarded deletes post
3.  Interim chief notified of deletion and reposts

Yeah, that should work out well.

As a retired police officer, i have to say, this Chief is a complete asshat. And needs to 1. not only re read the "serve and protect" manual, but also apparently has issues with long words. Stay off the internets Chief, you're not helping us look good.

Yeah big word there is "ACCUSED"
Till he's on trial for corruption and found guilty I don't care what you people say he did. Till then you are no better than he is.

I think you missed the point.

I'm not saying he did it or didn't. I am saying if a ranking police officer who has been accused by another ranking police officer of planting evidence threatened to come find me, I would take that seriously.

That's really so hard to understand? I don't think it is.

We're in a police state. Even if you win a 1983, you aren't getting rich. The typical 1983 case is awarded....

Please don't pass judgement on anyone though they appear to be on the "retard gifted" program. Possibly one or more of these "users" don't like what they're reading, and don't know how to use filters on Facebook. Well, if you're gonna do it, do it. Don't make some lame witted account "We had a reasonable right to believe they were guilty of something', so we do. Good luck on serving that warrant, and when you do lose that case, on charges of bullshiat, better get ready for the civil suit against the "chief', presumably not protected as Free speech of someone expressing their views. I'd like to think the person who would defend themselves would rent a billboard deriding the police for standing behind this. I guess freedom to express your views only when someone appoints themselves as arbiter of  the community, not by laws, but by how they feel. Sure, that's legal.

I have reasonable suspicion that somebody is not qualified to hold public office.

2013-11-01 05:44:29 PM
The cop is an assmuncher, sure. But the guy is also munching copious ass on this one, you NEVER, EVER speak to a cop unless you absolutely have to. There's never a good reason to engage with those people.
This guy shook the hornet's nest and they stung him, and will probably swarm.

Great, I'm going to Columbia tomorrow, to the reptile expo. That's probably reasonable suspicion in this guy's mind that I'm going to turn live cobras loose in an orphanage or something, right? (as opposed to, oh, buying a box of crickets and a couple bags of frozen rodents, and a new hidebox for one of my snakes)

Why would someone feel threatened if they're not doing anything wrong? Well, I feel threatened every time I see a drunk driver careening down the street, and I'm not doing anything wrong. I'm sure I'd feel threatened if I'd been in LAX this morning when that guy started shooting, despite not doing anything wrong. And when I'm going to be in a city where there's a guy with a gun, a badge, and the idea that the law is what he says it should be, you had better believe I feel threatened.

2013-11-01 05:57:04 PM
Sounds like someone has too much time on his hands.  If this chief has enough time to sit around reading and responding to facebook posts then he needs additional tasks.  Detectives searching facebook for evidence to already committed crimes is one thing, a chief wasting his time making threats to random posters is another.  Mayor Benjamin should certainly consider this guy a political liability as he reflects poorly on the city in general.

Goofus Chief publicly threatens strangers who may/may not be committing crimes
Gallant Chief records and archives the posters information should they run afoul of the law in the future (makes it easier to get a warrant if you have a history showing probable cause)
