FTA - Many sex workers -- a broad term that can refer to a number of services, including sexual massage, prostitution, and escort and dominatrix work...

So strippers are not considered sex workers? Or are the just 'entertainers'?

If healthcare is now available, that might actually mean there's avenues for escape(through a physician) for people who have been slaved through human trafficking.  Luckily, we can count on republicans to end protection for "illegals" in the next few years, so unwilling prostitutes can continue to suffer.

I would think just in privacy concerns alone, sex workers might avoid Obamacare. I mean, their biggest customers are usually politicians, and now politicians can know which whores have the herpes...

Wait, I think I just explained why Obamacare was passed...

It isn't terrible for the sex workers that potentially engage in high risk behavior and now have access to healthcare.

Alternatively, dependent upon how risk pools are apportioned, low risk individuals will now have to pay more as a result of those in their risk pool that engage in high risk behavior.

Not surprising; the whole point of Obamacare was to help the self-employed. Today, if you don't have a day job that offers health insurance (those have been required, by fiat, for years to ignore pre-existing conditions) it's easy to be uninsurable.

Yes, but you see it's offset by the fact that because their profession is illegal, they cannot deduct the cost of their lubes, condoms, ointments, creams, dildos, floggers, riding crops, nurse outfits, librarian outfits, schoolma'arm outfits, rubber gloves, lube applicators, buttplugs, handcuffs, rope, fishing nets, ping-pong paddles, fraternity paddles, canoe paddles, defibrillator paddles, enema bags, enema tubes, enema nozzles, Nestle's Instant Enema-In-A-Minute® Mix, Mug Root Beer (for enemas), leather hoods, leather gloves, leather cod-pieces, male-chastity devices, male-chastity device cleanser...

Um, yeah.. this.  When you don't report your income, everything you buy is 100% tax-deductible.

This is a particularly interesting issue.

1) Sex workers getting health care = very good for public health
2) Criminal tax-dodgers getting even more government handouts (additional to welfare, disability, etc.) = bad for the budget

I s'pose it's a lesser-of-two-evils thing?  Does the benefit of improved public health offset the money lost in additional handouts to criminals?

Any defense attorneys here?  If an individual is convicted of prostitution or another illegal-income crime, are they typically subject to a tax audit?
