Hey, let's go shooting people in one of the most violent cities in America with a paintball gun. I'm SURE nothing bad will happen.

Karma moves swiftly in the Windy City, apparently.

I never understood how somebody being taken to the hospital could be considered in "good" condition.  It would seem to me that I would hardly be classified as "good" having a hole in my arm from a gsw.

The other guy was using lead based paint.

They shoot you with a paintball, you shoot them with a bullet.

It's the Chicago way.

Maybe "good" in the grumpy cat sense.

I can't see how "good condition" and "gun shot wound" can co-exist.  Just because the wound is not life threatening doesn't mean he's in good condition.  In fact I would bet that anyone on their way to the hospital with a gun shot wound would not describe their condition as "good".

It comes from the fact that most places will either label someone as "stable" or "good" or "critical", because they don't have to elaborate anymore and risk violating various privacy laws.

Technically, as long as your bleeding is controlled and you've got a good pulse and movement/sensation in your hand, you're PROBABLY not going to die from a GSW to your arm.

This happened in Virginia maybe 15 years ago, in Lynchburg I think.  Some guy had one of those types of "realistic" looking paint ball guns and was going around shooting people from his car.  One of his targets was a pedestrian with a concealed carry permit.

Good.

Well, I am sure that many people in Chicago are relived that it was just paintballs.

/I bet the Police are going to have fun with this case.

"Good" == "Doesn't require life support"

Know how I know that's an ancient file photo?

First, it's a Spyder Compact. Those things haven't been around since the late 90's or so.

The other, more indicative, is the CO2 tank has a manufacture date of August 2002. They have to be hydro tested ever 3 years. So that would make that tank 8 years out of date.

Hospital staff do not use the same definitions that you would.

My friend was shot in the hand.  Broken metacarpal, but subsequently a full recovery.  I think relative to a lot of accidents/injuries that lead one to the hospital, he was in "good" condition.

Exactly, it's all relative. Good condition typically means you were injured but you're recovering and probably won't die or get any worse.

Yeah, Auburn Gresham isn't really a neighborhood you want to be running around acting like an idiot...unless you have a real gun to defend against all the other real guns.

/csb time

Back in '05, my buddy and I went to Phoenix to watch the Dodgers play the DBacks. Our hotel wasn't in the greatest area (by the airport) but there was a titty bar near by. After the game, we drove back to the hotel and walked to the titty bar. Good times.

Anyhow, some punk ass kids decided to do a drive with a paintball gun on us while we were walking back. I got hit in my back and it freaking hurt.

yep, thats my addition to the discussion

Latex or Acrylic?

/had my vehicle shot at with paintballs, after a fresh detail. I laughed when they had to buy 4 new tires due to .45 hollow point wounds.

If they catch the guy, I'd let him walk.

Anyone, and I mean ANYONE that goes around shooting at random strangers with paintball guns deserves every single bad thing that happens to them. If you point something vaguely gun shaped at someone in the night and a projectile leaves the barrel, your life is forfeit should your victim have a means to return fire.

/what a farking idiot

Unpossible. Guns are banned in Chicago.

Right now, the only people carrying firearms in Chicago are cops and those who are unconcerned by the risk of a felony UUW conviction.  None of these people are known for their good aim.

He's lucky he didn't try this next year, after the state finally gets around to issuing carry permits.

2013-11-01 12:57:00 PM
Impossible, guns are illegal in Chicago and that fixed all their violence problems!

We get it, you're a paintball nerd. But do you really think the shooter stopped to check the date on the air tank..

I think we're getting to the point in our society where we should stop calling people "man" or "woman" until they're over 30, because people seem to be rejecting maturity a lot longer these days. I think at 21 years old, this dumb-ass was a kid. A boy. An extended adolescent,  if you will.

Certainly not a man.
