Trying to submit this link and getting weird errors:

I'm still in shock from the NHL All-Time Greats 100 thing over the weekend.  I've been running stuff through my head ever since.  If I am not mistaken, this was once a line for Russia/USSR/Unified Team at the World Juniors:

Bure      Fedorov      Mogilny

Good God.

Praise Cheesus: Hello and welcome to the live Rachel Maddow Show discussion.  This is an effort to keep the discussion of Ms. Maddow and her staff's ongoing connect the dots building of the big picture on Team Trump and the Russan Connection from bleeding all over the Politics tab.

Taking this out of your thread so as not to draw attention. We're not sure yet this is a daily thread for sure. There are also concerns that a daily Maddow thread makes Fark.com appear to be advocating a political viewpoint which we try to adamantly avoid. Just to let you know, we're giving it a go and seeing how it pans out.

Also be aware that intro is going to draw conservative posters' attention to you and will lead to criticism and needling. We're all used to it back here, but if you feel like you need some mod oversight, please contact us instead of responding to posts you feel are out of line. Honestly, we are going to moderate these threads as we would any other poltab thread, so understand that we aren't going to mod righties out of there because it's a left-leaning feed appealing to lefty farkers. We mod posts, not users. Let me know if this makes sense... or doesn't. We want you to know what you're getting into here and have the thread go as smoothly as possible.

Thank you.  Yeah, I expected that it will draw quite a few of the "bars only" or dark gray posters and if things get thoroughly derailed, I do know how to use the "notify mod" button.

As I said elsewhere I was hoping a thread once or twice a week when the content from the show bleeds all over the politics tab might help contain the discussion and make it easier to follow.

This place needs more threads like these.

MarkEC: Sure, why not.

libranoelrose: Sure thing.

Roman Fyseek: And sure, I'd be happy to participate in a thread.

dugitman asked me to page you guys to this forum so it doesn't get lost when the original thread closes.

I guess questions are when and what specifically for the tech support thread. dugitman said Thursday and Fridays are slow and could use a good thread. Leave it an open forum? Showcase a repair?

I wasn't aware we had a forum.

I think it's new. Used to be a different forum that was never utilized or something

This could be a fun thread.. mostly retired now, but still active in the field, and have links to all of the manufacturers and many suppliers.. diagnostics is my line, and I enjoy it.. gotta find the problem before you can fix it.. most homeowners are not tech- savvy, but they can provide information that really helps nail down the issue.. EIP for contact..

We can discuss it in here. So what would a weekly thread look like?

Fark home repair thread: This week- home electronics

Or should we just have a weekly thread that's more open? We're going to make this whatever you all decide(with my input) so there are no wrong answers.

I'm just following up basemetal's idea for a recurring thread, I really don't have much more to contribute beyond that. It seems that there are a lot of resources for many home repairs/improvements and even small engines, but it is far more frustrating trying to diagnose and repair appliances and electronics. I think most home projects posted to TFD, like greenhouses, or furniture refinishing, or gardening, or backyard observatories are usually showcases rather than specific requests for ideas or guidance. Maybe the first one can focus on electronics but stress that it's not limited?

I think it would be cool to showcase something complex so that people understand what resources are available

I'm a technical minded person, not a big idea person.

Truthfully, I was referring to the thread reminiscent of older TFD threads where tech threads gave actual solid advice, and not the now seen "You're dumb, submitter" filled threads.  I learned a lot in those older threads.  If a recurring green thread could be made and sustained, that would be awesome.  It was part of  what made TFD a great place.

Well, there is this underutilized one that already exists.

I don't think most people know the forums exist. Pimp those links on Main or Discussion?

The forums don't work for ongoing discussion unless there is a new topic to center discussion around weekly or more often. Photoshop and Farktography forums work because there is a new contest to discuss or ask questions about. Hopefully this one will work once we get some interaction from thread hosts(like this discussion)

Wouldn't there be more discussion if more folks knew about the forums?

Ok, what do you want to do with the tech thread? I sort of forgot about this after unceremoniously trying to dump it on others. I realize it was sort of a dick move, but I have neither problems nor solutions to contribute currently. I still think it has a lot of potential. You said a weekday thread would be good, but doesn't the topic sort of lend itself to a weekend "time to get stuff done" theme?

Just say "here's a shiitepost." Saves everyone time.

One of the more frequent requests I get is for a thread where everyone can share their stories of being in the ocean, scuba-diving, snorkeling, etc. Because I'm not the biggest fan of the ocean(at least being in it with more than 5ft depth) I've had a hard time figuring out how to go at the intro. So I guess straightforward is the only way. If you're a big scuba or snorkeler, let us know some of your exciting or even scary situations in the deep. Feel free to share any pics too. As little as I like being IN the ocean, I do love pictures and cool stories about it.

I also made the title a little more vague so that adventures on lakes, rivers, or even public pools could be brought into the mix. Maybe hark back to those teenage years when for fun you did whippets on the Mississinewa bridge and then did the nestea plunge 20 feet into the river so you could get an extra trippy buzz off the bubbles rolling over your face and ears. Everyone did that in some form, right?

So what are your stories of being underwater, and do you have pics of these experiences we could see?

sarahthustra: you can talk about anything except the one thing.  i would tell you what it is, but i'm not allowed to talk about it.

Hey,
Trying to get hold of you via gmail but don't know if you check it. Can you get hold of me at your earliest convenience(EIP)? No trouble or anything, just wanted to see if you be interested in helping out with this Fark Discussion stuff.
