Too bad. Guillermo Del Toro apparently wants to do a remake of Pet Sematary and I have a feeling he'd do a hell of a lot better job.

Can we just have 28 Months later first, please?

I realize that Stephen King is Hollywood's favorite horror writer but there are a number of equally (if not more) talented writers in the field who have entire bibliographies that have yet to be adapted to screen.

/might I suggest Ramsey Campbell or Robert McCammon?

Please, no. 28 Weeks Later was bad enough.

28 Days Later was awesome.

That's about the kindest thing I have heard about that unpolished turd of a movie. I'd rather watch Blair Witch Project 2*.

*okay, well, maybe not

Is this the thread where the real horror aficionados get to toss their vaginal sand at each other?

Nothing was sacred about Pet Sematary.
Nothing was bad about 28 Weeks Later.
They were both good at what they did.

28 Weeks Later would have been good if the father had just become another infected. But the whole "chase the kids through half of England" was dumb.

I don't know if you top the creepy creep of the kid from the original

Same here. It had it's flaws, but an enjoyable movie.

The "car push-start" scene, and the sniper scene were awesome.

For some reason when reading I always thought Judd was a Morgan Freemanish black guy.

The helicopter scene where the rotors act like a giant lawnmower - that's one of my faves too.

The original "Pet Sematary" was not a good movie. I imagine it's possible to make a version that is relatively faithful to the book and of better quality than the second-rate crap the original was. But I doubt it will be. It will probably be yet another formulaic, cookie-cutter remake that everyone will forget exists in a couple of years.

Dammit I'm tired of remakes. If you checked out AMC's Fear Fest lineup this year, it was nothing but sad, boring remakes. I'd look at the lineup and see "The Omen" or "The Fog" and be all "woo!" and then inevitably it was the utterly unexciting remake. Bleah. Fear Fest, you sucked this year.

Third on Rose Byrne.  Also, this scene was a change-of-pants:
