Well if you take them both seriously, then you're well on the way to putting a dent into this overpopulation problem that's got Doug Stanhope so worried.

It's been going on for hundreds of years. How many people who don't understand the context still hold up the "kill all the lawyers" speech as an example of lawyers being a menace?

Sadly, it is humanitarian problems like these that the global body politic will completely ignore, save for token gestures of financial aid and a handful of 'advisers' who will get paid handsomely to do absolutely nothing meaningful to solve the situation.

No one on the global stage has the moral fiber to actually do something meaningful to even try to address tragedies like this.  Why?  Because there's no profit in doing so.  Once someone figures out how to make more money off of this than making bombs and shorting global stocks, the powers that be will have this cleaned up in a jiffy.

Meh, at least they tried. PSA if you're planning on crossing the friggn' Sahara desert with 92 people maybe you should finally do that vehicle service check you've been putting off.

What kinda vehicle are you driving anyway that holds 92 people and makes you think you can cross the worlds largest desert?

My father always asks me why so much money is "wasted" on space exploration when we have so many problems on Earth.  My response is always the same, we know exactly how to solve the problems we face here, we just refuse to do so.  Taking money away from NASA would not provide these people water, or food, or anything else.  Spite, hatred, and greed prevent anything from actually being done here.  And science is a refuge for people who want to move forward somehow.

Oh, I see we have one right here in this very thread.

So tell me, do you seriously think that these folks haven't wished that they could do just that? Do you really not suppose that there are logistical issues that might be preventing them from doing so? Or do you simply presume that they're all too stupid to think, "Hey, wouldn't it be great if we weren't in a desert?"

Combine it with Carlin's plan to turn all golf courses into homeless shelters and we might be on to something.

I think I might have solved this problem. I know just the place to build housing for the homeless: golf courses. It's perfect. Plenty of good land in nice neighborhoods; land that is currently being squandered on a mindless activity engaged in by white, well-to-do business criminals who use the game to get together so they can make deals to carve this country up a little finer among themselves.
I'm sick of these golfing cocksuckers in their green and yellow pants, precious little hats, and pussified golf carts. It's time for real people to reclaim the golf courses from the wealthy and turn them over to the homeless. Golf is an arrogant, elitist game that takes up entirely too much space in this country.
The arrogant nature of golf is evident in the design and scale of the game. Think of how big a golf course is. It's huge; you can't see one end of it from the other. But the ball is only an inch and a half in diameter. So will someone please explain to me what these pinheaded pricks need with all that land?
America has over 17,000 golf courses. They average over 150 acres apiece. That's three million-plus acres. Four thousand, eight hundred and twenty square miles. We could build two Rhode Islands and a Delaware's worth of housing for the homeless on the land currently wasted on this meaningless, mindless, arrogant, racist game. - George Carlin

With the added bonus that it is all hate, spite and greed in the famine stricken areas that cause people to starve. Monetary or political policy in the US, Europe or Asia has very little influence on gangs pillaging and burning farms and conscripting the people of fighting age in Africa.

This.  About the only things that would work are getting the Catholic church out of Africa and direct military action.  And frankly, we've killed enough brown people lately.

Meanwhile Carlin owned several sprawling mansions where guests were seldom welcome. But yeah, preach how somebody else's land should be seized to solve the problem. All golfers I know are middle class working stiffs who go rent a bucket of balls for $5 or 9 holes for $10.

Carlin was a global warming denier, an anti-environmentalist, and a egomaniacal anti-social prick (my opinion, the other two are fact).

At least Kinison's stand up act didn't devolve into an unfunny confused mish-mash of both right-wing and marxist political propaganda for the last 20 years of his life.
