Today, shocks reverberated around Washington as HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius blatantly disrespected the House Energy & Commerce Committee chairman by refusing to answer a question and outright mocking him. "Are you serious? Is that a serious question? I won't even dignify that with a response," she exclaimed, shaking her head. She was responding to a question by Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) who held up a picture of President Obama and asked, "Is THIS MAN, barack HUSSINSAINE sotero supposedly the president, your boss?" Pundits are stunned by Sebelius' disrespect and a senior staffer has suggested the impeachment process may have already begun.

Jesus Christ, three attacks at level two? It's a goddamn death panel all on its lonesome.

cameroncrazy1984: There are "levels" of Obamacare now? What are they? Can you describe the infrastructure of Obamacare for us?

At each level, Obamacare gets another 1D6 hit points and may select two spells from the available spell list -OR- may select two minor psionic abilities from the Sensitive and Active categories (excluding Telekinesis).  The choice between magic or psionics is made on a level by level basis.

At levels 2, 5, and 9, Obamacare selects three additional secondary skills.  These skills start at level 1 proficiency.

At level 2, Obamacare gains +2 attacks per round, +1 strike, dodge and parry, and acquires the Drop Kick attack (2d8 damage, counts as two attacks).

cameroncrazy1984: karnal: Back in July he was blaming Bush on the economy..

Are you saying that in no way was Bush responsible for the economic crash of 2008?

Not solely - share the blame with The Federal Reserve, the SEC (for they turned a blind eye and refused to investigate fraud), Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, Bank of America.
Plus, he had a Democrat Congress who orders the spending bills.... also blame Chris Dodd and Barney Frank - they pushed up home values from the liberal disastrous policies under Freddie and Fannie.

cameroncrazy1984: karnal: Funny, since the current president is still blaming Bush for many of his woes.

Can you name one thing that Obama has blamed on Bush that wasn't Bush's fault? One thing. Please. I'm begging you. Just name one thing.

He's still blaming Bush for the deficit....this after adding almost 6 trillion to it himself.  Back in July he was blaming Bush on the economy....give him time and it will be Bush's fault that his Obamacare website sucks.

cameroncrazy1984: SkinnyHead: When government takeover of healthcare goes wrong, people got a right to ask who is responsible for the snafu.  And people got a right to expect more from their government than valley-girl sass as a response.

What was taken over? And what, besides the website, went wrong?

What was taken over?  Everyone's healthcare was taken over, that's what.  Now we got incompetent and irresponsible government commissars making healthcare plans for everyone.  We got lies and broken promises about keeping your plan if you like it and keeping your doctor.  We got soaring premiums and soaring deductibles.  And there is no reason to think that the gross bureaucratic incompetence behind the website snafu will be limited to the website.  We can expect that same level of incompetence at every level of Obamacare.  That's because nobody will take responsibility.  When people ask their government, who is responsible for this mess, they get valley-girl sass:  Whatever.

It's not Obama's fault they can't read.

Don't you understand? Nothing is the fault of Republican Senators. EVER. Everything is Obama's fault.

Funny, since the current president is still blaming Bush for many of his woes.

And it's entirely accurate.

What's really funny is the number of Republicans that think economic and policy issues revolve in 4-year cycles that perfectly coincide with election years.

/The Great Depression?  Ended when FDR was elected.  Everything else he did had nothing to do with it.
//World War II?  Don't listen to your grandpapa, it ended the day Truman was elected.  Truman didn't have to make any hard decisions at all.
///The 2008 Recession?  Ended immediately on January 20, 2009, only to be replaced immediately with 1000 years of darkness.

Science has proven the Party of Personal Responsibility lacks the capacity to understand the phrase "I am responsible".  It's like when you ask a kid with brain damage what he calls a black-and-white striped horse, and the kid says "Ebra."  He's incapable of understand he's wrong, because the kind of damage he's got basically creates a world in his perceptions where "Z" doesn't exist, can't exist.

This will not be the last time a parallel is drawn between the GOP and brain-damaged children.

Congress passed the ACA, therefore every member of Congress bears responsibility for the website's failure. If they thought it would be so terrible a law, they should have repealed it or amended it. Congress has had ample opportunity to do exactly that for the past couple of years, but they didn't do so.

"Fine. You want me to say it was President Obama's fault? Sure, it's his fault, whatever. Like any of this matters at all, beyond providing all the news channels with content for a couple days. You're standing up here for the cameras harumphing and posing, for a bunch of people back home that already average 1.5 Anti-Obama bumper stickers per car. Do you think that if they all rabble-rabble just a bit louder, that will somehow repeal Obamacare? So yeah, go sound your fury as much as you want. I'll end up taking the fall for this, which is fine because I've got my pick of positions waiting for me at various universities, drug companies, and law firms. And in 18 months when this is running smoother and people are actually being helped, you can tell them all how you single-handedly saved this program from my incompetence, and how it was really a Republican idea to begin with, anyway. Just do me a favor and try not to look like such a smug asshole."

Didn't Obama say if you like the healthcare plan you have, you can keep it?

Didn't Obama say: "No more Illegal Wire Tapping of American Citizens"?

-Whatever

Didn't he also say he would
1. Make government open and transparent
2. Make it "Impossible" for Congressmen to slip in Pork Barrel Projects
3. Meetings where laws are written will be more open to the public (republicans shut out)
4. No more secrecy
5. Public will have 5 days to look at a Bill
6. You'll know what's in it (Republican Senators didn't know)
7. We will put every pork barrel project online

James!: Or, "I have so little respect for your point of view that I can no longer muster the energy required to tell you how stupid you are".

Psychology jargon terms include "intellectual disengagement", "selective exposure", and (end of) "message scrutiny".

kbronsito: Sometimes people use "whatever" not because they are wrong and are giving up but because the person they are having a discussion with is just too stupid to understand the arguments.

Most generally, it would seem to be a response indicating the point when person A says something that causes person B gives up all hope there is any identifiable sequence of premises presentable to lead person A to infer the concluding propostitions that person B prefers (and vice versa), leaving the best ROI for person B to be waiting for person A to drop dead and/or some unexpected miracle to occur. This may be because of deficiency in the set of shared premises, in the inferential capabilities of person A, in the inferential capabilities of person B, or the communications medium between them.

Spending your time and effort trying to teach the horse to sing is only useful when you're lacking better alternatives for them.
