Congress passed the ACA, therefore every member of Congress bears responsibility for the website's failure. If they thought it would be so terrible a law, they should have repealed it or amended it. Congress has had ample opportunity to do exactly that for the past couple of years, but they didn't do so.

I'm waiting for the day when someone tells a Republican Congressman to go f*ck himself in CSPAN. Eventually it's going to get to that point.

Sebelius: Um... You clearly... Uh... Whatever. Yes he is the president. Yes he is responsible for government programs.

Yeah, that question got precisely the sort of answer it deserved.

It is also something you say to clearly insane people to keep them from realizing you just dissed them and then attack you with sharp objects.   This is what she did.
If I were interviewed by the batshiat insane members of the GOP I would find it harder to not call them out on their stupidity.

She should have followed up with:

Alright, look, you've had your little dog and pony show for C-SPAN, but I'm leaving. This is absurd. I came, I answered all of your questions no matter how inane, poorly-researched or based on ancient fax jokes they were. I have taken responsibility for my role and was, yes, eventually compelled by your brilliant cross-examination to admit that Barack Obama is the President. I even had our staff prepare a document with important takeaways from this project so that we can improve large public system rollouts like this in the future. But you know what? I don't work for you, and I don't have to sit here listening to this nonsense. So, with all due respect: What. The fark. Ever.

2013-10-31 11:03:20 AM
And who does the President answer to?  Who does he work for?  The American People that's who.  So ultimately it's our fault, right?

Whatever.

I'm just kiddin, I like the way that guy thinks.  Any mistake by anyone in a company ever is ultimately the fault of the CEO.  Let's start gettin some CEO's fired.

kbronsito: Sometimes people use "whatever" not because they are wrong and are giving up but because the person they are having a discussion with is just too stupid to understand the arguments. I think this is one of those cases. She could have explained the nuance that the president is ultimately in charge of the government but doesn't micro-manage IT projects but that would have been a waste of everyone's time. Smart people already know... republicans either don't understand or will pretend they don't.

I know that when the sales team asks us why we are behind schedule that I think maybe they should stop interfering with new scope items on existing projects.   But the CEO does not care about any of that, he delegates that stuff down.

You joke, but that's exactly the point that the GOP is trying to make.  Everything that goes wrong because we voted for a black Democrat needs to be smeared in our faces to teach us a lesson.  Come up with ideas that fix the problem or lead to a more effective solution?  Why they hell would they? Companies holding onto massive amounts of cash profit during a recession while cutting employees and benefits?  Why should they do their part to help the economy?  That wouldn't teach us.

FTA:
1. Sebelius said she bears responsibility for the website and apologized.
2. Harper repeatedly asked whether President Barack Obama bears ultimate responsibility.

Seems like less of a "I am wrong, but dont want to admit it" than a "look, I've answered your question, and you keep asking the same damned question over and over again, so, yeah, whatever you want the answer to be. Happy? Now STFU."

Once again, looking to attack Obama as if he was personally responsible for coding the site.

Also: what the fark is with politicians and the constant search for "who bears ultimate responsibility" for things? Is that all politics is: looking for someone to blame? As opposed to, you know, just farking fixing shiat and moving on.

Point of order: "whatever" is the response you use when you're giving up on arguing, but whether it means  you've lost, or  they've lost and they're too dumb or willfully blind to realize it, needs to be gauged on a case-by-case basis. I agree in this case it's the latter.

That is all.

2013-10-31 11:35:18 AM
Science has proven the Party of Personal Responsibility lacks the capacity to understand the phrase "I am responsible".  It's like when you ask a kid with brain damage what he calls a black-and-white striped horse, and the kid says "Ebra."  He's incapable of understand he's wrong, because the kind of damage he's got basically creates a world in his perceptions where "Z" doesn't exist, can't exist.

This will not be the last time a parallel is drawn between the GOP and brain-damaged children.

What's really funny is the number of Republicans that think economic and policy issues revolve in 4-year cycles that perfectly coincide with election years.

/The Great Depression?  Ended when FDR was elected.  Everything else he did had nothing to do with it.
//World War II?  Don't listen to your grandpapa, it ended the day Truman was elected.  Truman didn't have to make any hard decisions at all.
