Why not?  He was perfect to explain computers to the "over 25 year old" demographic back then.

Meh.  Mr. Allen was a smart guy, no doubt, but I'd have trusted someone who had demonstrated experience
with computers to tell me what was what:

And he had a video, too.

Hey, he taught us all the important lesson that if the computer becomes sentient and evil, you can use a logical paradox to melt its circuits.

When asked to move the mouse, you do not and should not raise it from the surface, just gently slide it along.

Was gonna say I turned to comedians Billy Van and Luba Goy.  I see that's been covered.

/Loved that series when I was a kid.  Still love it now for its kind of campiness.

Quantum Apostrophe: Stewart Cheifet's combover was the resource back then.

That was the era of when the computer world was in full swing, where the businessmen had nearly replaced idealists as the leaders of the tech world.

CSB: Worked an ISP help desk in the late '90s and encountered numerous cases of underinformed PC owners (and before you guess, the retard rate was even between Windoze and Crapple owners...the very few Linux runners never called).

Me: OK, first we have to open Windows, so switch on the power...

Her: Wait...(sound of chair scraping, footsteps, sash weights thumping in a wooden frame...)

Her: OK, I've done it but this can't take too long. I have the furnace on.

"It's a popular misconception that you have to be a math wizard to program a computer. Nothing could be further from the truth. You could spend a lifetime writing programs and not once need or use mathematics."

Not sure that I necessarily agree with this one, unless that is your typing a 2-line BASIC program with nothing but PRINT commands over and over again.

I was thinking of Dave Allen and was sorely disappointed.
