They really need a better name for this than 'synthetic marijuana'. Marijuana doesn't make people do crazy stuff like that. The biggest risk from being stoned on the subway is falling asleep, missing your stop, and deciding that since you're in Flushing anyway you might as well get a bowl of noodles.

Seriously folks, stick to pot.

Acid is fun and safe too imo, but like X and other stuff you never quite know what you are buying and thus lose dose control. Never did shrooms, that is just weak acid thiugh right? If the dosing is reliable, knock yourselves out.

And not to be the boring old man, but have designated sober babysitters if you must take drugs in public and wander around. For safety and for not getting a criminal record that will haunt you.

"Synthetic cannabis is claimed by the manufacturers to contain a mixture of traditionally used medicinal herbs, each of which producing mild effects, with the overall blend resulting in the cannabis-like intoxication produced by the product. Herbs listed on the packaging of Spice include Canavalia maritima, Nymphaea caerulea, Scutellaria nana, Pedicularis densiflora, Leonotis leonurus, Zornia latifolia, Nelumbo nucifera, and Leonurus sibiricus. However, when the product was analyzed by laboratories in Germany and elsewhere, it was found that many of the characteristic "fingerprint" molecules expected to be present from the claimed plant ingredients were not present."

This. Pot doesn't cause psychotic episodes. Well, not nearly as often.

It may be illegal despite not being specifically listed. There are federal laws that kind of cover generic abuse of drug-like substances iirc.

The real reason they get to slide by is that state laws don't cover it, state cops have their hands full, and blood testing for drugs when you have no idea what chemicals to look for is damn tricky. Think how much money they give doctors to catch athletes doping and how many sneak by with slightly altered cocktails (well, blood cycle too don't they?). Much more profit in a designer drug and much less cash supporting the investigating lab.

As long as the blends of drugs keep changing every few months no drug labs will be able to stay on top.

Speaking of horrible drugs, google krokodile.

Legalize a few safer drugs and we could see a huge reduction in crap like this.

actually, i'm well known here as a supporter of THC.. but i must say, these synthetics are actually factually WAY TO GODDAMN STRONG for this to be something you get at the store.

With affinities 100Xthat of THC (as AM-2201 is) and being a full agonistof the THC receptor, this shiat is

a) no joke
b) easily, easily, easily misjudged for potency
c) way more likely than THC to cause extreme paranoia and inability to function (if you haven't tried it, you don't understand, trust me)
d) actually capable of causing a real dependence over the medium term

that I do in fact advocate getting this stuff the hell off the streets. That's why i'm so happy places like CO and WA have legalized marijuana - it's a partial agonist and quite time tested and safe. It's a damn plant, you know what you're getting.

Look what you uptight people have made our kids turn to with your moralizin'. Some subset of people are always going to abuse, and it's one of societies' responsibilities to provide the safest alternatives to the basic human need to achieve altered states (yes it's a basic need, whether it's a merry go round or your latest pity party crying binge) It's always something worse when you try to deny people psychological relief (when will they figure it out?? Ever???)

They keep trying to make it illegal, but people keep coming up with new chemicals. For that matter even if you managed to make it all illegal these types would simply switch to inhaling paint/gasoline fumes and such.

Thus I'm with Smackledorfer and sobriquet:

Don't know if shrooms are just weak acid or not, given that you never really know what's on that blotter. But the first time I did shrooms I had the most crystal-clear earthquake experience EVER.

Prophet of Loss: Pro-tip: It wasn't THC

Pro-tip: He wasn't talking about THC, but an artificial chemical with an estimated 100X the potency of THC, as untaken mentions.

Then Sobriquet goes on to mention terms that I understand only because I've been boning up for a biology clep recently. That boils down to 'Yo, this shiat is nasty; you're much better off smoking the devil-weed'.

I did K2 a couple of times and all I can say is it was like a dissociative marijuana with 3 times the paranoia. Not cool. Just legalize/decriminalize/medical-ize it NYC, stop the nonsense.

Mushrooms are an entirely different animal than LSD. Both are great, but LSD is much easier to handle for an inexperienced tripper; shrooms can be somewhat dark and unpredictable. With that said, mushrooms generate totally different effects, visuals, and headspace than LSD.

2013-10-31 06:08:06 AM

Smackledorfer: Never did shrooms, that is just weak acid thiugh right?

Shrooms aren't inherently weaker or stronger. There's a natural variability in strength, so the strongest are about 2x the weakest within the same species. 4g of strong ones are similar in strength to 800 mics of acid. (for those who don't know what 800 mics of acid is like, just think "Oh. My. God." Nested inside more "Oh. My. God"s, all the way to infinity, in a 5-dimensional fractalscape constantly rearranging like a rubix hypercube, where a consciousness known as "you" is flying through at high speeds, while time stands still.)

That's what my friend tells me, anyways.
