Not subby, but on a related note I might as well repost what I said in another thread earlier today:

I got sucked into the weird part of YouTube last night and was watching driver cam crash vids from Russia. I couldn't believe how many I saw where someone driving 'fine' made no attempt to avoid a crash with someone driving erratically. I was left to wonder how many of those 'fine' people were texting.

Just because you're driving straight in the lane doesn't make you farking invincible.

I guess our species still has some evolving to do..

He was found with a herd of cows.

Heard of what?

Herd of cows.

Of course I've heard of cows.

No, no, no. A cow herd.

I don't care what a cow heard. I haven't said anything to be ashamed of.

If you live in a rural area you have to pay a little more attention to detail and be aware that there are wild animals and/or livestock in the road at times, and ingore the damn phone. Whatever it is, it can wait.

As a matter of fact, a lot of farmers were doing harvesting this weekend and a LOT of slow-moving vehicles were on the highway, and if you weren't paying attention you could easily slam right into the back of them. All said, this is preferable to running into the back of an Amish buggy.

Please take issues like this into consideration if you are driving in a rural areas.

/Unless, of course you are on your way to pick up your Nobel Prize or perform emergency brain surgury on an infant or something like that..

Not to mention the fact that in many areas where harvesting is over, like up north here, it's the start of the rut for deer season, and bucks be chasin' does, and they are more likely to be out in the road.

Hosking and his crew said the cows have names and become like part of the family

That sounds weird but it's true. I know some farmers. They care for those animals like they were their own children. Right up until eatin' time, Then it's "Hmm hmmm. Patrick sure tastes good."

Maybe not walk a herd of them at a time.  From the pic it's really just across a normal single lane road, take 5 at a time.

Find out how much meat he eats in a week.  Then, forbid him from eating meat until the amount equals the rough processed weight of the cows he injured.

He'll know by the end of a year without meat just how much a cow is worth.

Cows don't go "5 at a time".  They all go, or they all stay.  Good luck telling some of them "you'll be right back."  They don't go in for that so much.

Around here an adult milk cow will cost between $1000 and about $2500.  Calves around $500.

The article says nothing about the attitude of the driver.  It says that the farmer said that the person who picked her up was insufficiently concerned in his opinion.  Not a cop, not a neutral witness, but the person affected by the loss.  And out come the torch and pitchforks for someone whose car was totalled because somebody decided he can run cattle over a public road twice a day.

Daisy Cowit, 21, of Wawayanda. Wait what? I think they are making these names up. Daisy is a common name for a milk cow. Cowit sounds kind of like cow hit. Wawayanda is like something you'd text as you were hitting a herd of cows.

Cows do wait if they are trained ever watch those high tech dairy farm shows where cows line up and wait for the gate to open so they can get milked?  What's so hard with open gate let some out close gate?

Something to ruminate on:

A lady from the city and her traveling companion were riding the train through Vermont when she noticed some cows.
"What a cute bunch of cows!" she remarked.
"Not a bunch, herd", her friend replied.

"Herd of cows."
"Of course I've heard of cows."
"No, a cow herd."
"What do I care what a cow heard. I have no secrets to keep from a cow!"

There's an app for that.  It's called a old school full-frame automobile.  Really though, I never even talk and drive and if you ask me the penalty for causing an accident due to texting and driving it should be the same as DUI.  Nobody made you, and you aren't even under the influence of something that makes you stupid(er)
