It would have been a buddy-drama that over the course of a few seasons ended in a pointless and obvious love affair that no one but lonely cat women liked...oh wait..

Sounds about right.

Sonic screwdriver replaced with 647 guns

Then again, the way it has been overused recently, nowadays the sonic is probably able to shoot bullets or lasers or whatever is required anyway.

The Doctor has a wisecracking male sidekick/partner

And it's not like there's a shortage of wisecracking (female) sidekicks.

The Doctor has a first name and it's "Josh"

TARDIS is a clear telephone booth

In season five The Doctor's adorable nephew moves in

In Season five you say?

Okay, that's a bit unfair, so I'll go with this:

The Doctor is all about the ladies
there would be at least one woman on the team that The Doctor would have a flirty, tempestuous will-they-or-won't-they relationship for several seasons until they finally do it and the show is ruined forever.

Well, you can pick your most specialest girl in the universe that comes closest.

Every time The Doctor regenerates he gets younger and his t-shirt gets tighter
If there's one thing American TV studios don't like it's having their sexy male lead age out the program's desired viewer demographic.

Well..

..lets wait how it plays out.

The Doctor has a catchphrase
"Fantastic! Alonsey! Geronimo! I'm eating jelly babies now, jelly babies are cool!"

Moral at end of each episode is "Humans kick ass"

Does one even have to dignify that one with a snarky reply?
Yeah, it is. Or "love kicks ass".

We did have an American version of Doctor Who. It was called Bill and Ted's Great Adventure.

They did make an American version of the Doctor in 1996 starring Paul McGann.

That was stupid. I want my 90 seconds back.

And who can forget the classic tagline "Be great to each other."

Author of TFA apparently hasn't watched any American TV in about 10 years.

American TV is now much less "A-Team" and a lot more "Breaking Bad."

/But I actually like the A-Team as well

It would've been cancelled by the third episode.

Or any Doctor Who. As has already been pointed out, at least half of these "never happen" things are regular staples of the show. And the article writer must REALLY hate Torchwood. Good old gun-wielding Captain Josh - sorry, I meant Jack - even has an American accent, though the actor playing him is Scottish.

America already had a Dr. Who. And it wasn't a pair of teenagers.

In all seriousness, the US counterpart to Dr. Who is Star Trek.  Same general kind of show, same production values and general budget categories.

Note that Star Trek hasn't fallen into any of the supposed issues, or at least no more so than Dr. Who has (in many cases, significantly less so, Star Trek had its eye candy but they never fell into the "each doctor must be hyped as slightly sexier" crap that new Who has been centered around).

Of course the finale of Breaking Bad involved Walt building an A-Team like contraption to kill the Nazis.

Sexiest Captain: Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, or the one from the series we don't speak of?

He turned gay because there just weren't any females, neuters, or extraterrestrials in America that he found appealing.

Also america can do scifi so I don't see the real issue. I forget does fark not like bsg, stargate, fringe, etc? I never remember what I am supposed to hate, outside of duck dynasty :)

Yeah, I don't get the hate for 8 either.  My hubby (British and a long time Doctor Who fan) slates it pretty badly, but I quite enjoyed it.

Be careful, don't tell the author of the post that Doctor Who was rebooted in 2005. He might lose his shiat if he sees the RTD era.

Talk about dividing by zero.  Maybe Doctor #11 should shout out "Great Scott!!" before regenerating.

We had an american version and it was called Voyagers!

It lasted a season.
