Subby, let me have seven of your babies. I promise I will not abdicate my responsibilities for them; neither will I disparage any generous gifts of food, housing or automobiles.

Quantum Apostrophe: Can .177 BB really do that? Are there .22 BBs?

Yes, a BB can do that. Pretty sure they can determine this by the little round steel BBs left inside the cars.

Also, probably not. I've never seen them.

.22 caliber air guns use pellets that take advantage of rifling to improve accuracy and all that, which BBs do not do.

Rifling should help with accuracy of BBs - at least I believe it does.  Lead pellets move slower, are more accurate, tend not to break windows, and travel a bit slower than hard copper BBs which tend to break things.

Well I was waiting for the confirmation that those CO2 toy guns can do that, as opposed to the .177 nail guns I see at Home Depot.

I got a Chinese 177 pump rifle at a yard sale for $5 and a daisy 177 pump for $2 this summer.
I can take squirrels or rabbits with them. Grouse if I'm patient. The Chinese looks like a dang AK.
Which, I'm sure the press would ID it as if it were ever used in a crime.

Everything may or may not be an AR-15 these days. It's always unclear whether AR-15's were used until they are determined to not have been used.

The only restitution for something like this is public flaying.

I have 3 things to say about this...

I played in BB King's club in NYC once.  That was pretty wild.

I have not once, but twice, had windows shot out of my car by BB guns.  One of those times my buddy was sitting in the passanger seat.  My window exploded, and he got hit in the chest.  He was like, "WTF!!  Someone just F'n shot me!!"  Fortunately it was just a BB gun.

//That's Trenton for you...  Never know what is gonna happen.

I'm going to court on Friday to try to get restitution for a 10 foot wide window shot by vandals last year. Two dozen windows is what they got arrested for, who knows how many people didn't report the damage to police.
/$5000, 3-year old window

Quantum Apostrophe: Can .177 BB really do that? Are there .22 BBs?

BB size pellets are named after #BB size bird shot which is 0.180" in diameter so, no there are no .22 BBs.

.22 would be F or TTT pellets, but nobody calls them that.

Yes, a BB can do that. Pretty sure they can determine this by the little round steel BBs left inside the cars.

I picked up a Red Ryder BB gun from the local Walmart and went plinking.  They fire 4.5mm copper coated steel BBs.  At short range, we were smashing beer and wine bottles.  I was a bit surprised at the velocity of what is supposed to be a "toy".

My rifled airguns are actually a slightly different calibre than BB's (despite being nominally .177). You either can't shoot both through them or BB's ruin the rifling. BB guns you can shoot pellets out of too aren't as accurate. Not sure you're correct that pellets move slower, some of them have quite a bit of thought put into the aerodynamics of them.
