"Where's the fire?"

2013-10-30 12:59:45 PM
Wow, I expected this to be about a volunteer firefighter driving like an idiot to a call.

Instead, it's a career firefighter who was being shifted from one station to another. In other words, someone who should have known better.

My question is how was he on duty if he was being shifted from one station to another? Was he going to respond to a call in his POV?

Because People in power are Stupid: "Where's the fire?"

Over in one.

With his head up his ass and shiat for brains it's more likely that he was on doody.

2013-10-30 01:46:23 PM
How is this even a story?  he was probably checking his phone for directions or something equally as stupid.

"I will address it and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken if warranted."

As opposed to taking appropriate action that is not warranted?

Looks like their fire department will be a hose short for a while.

In Massachusetts a volunteer took out the town's truck for a joyride with his girlfriend. He wrecked it. His lawyer got DUI plea bargained down to probation for negligent driving. The most shocking news in the case was a man from Provincetown had a girlfriend.

Being late to work is not an excuse. NOW IF YOU WERE RESPONDING TO A CALL, you should be in a vehicle equipped with POV lights and appropriate siren.

Let this be a lesson to all aspiring firefighters:

Pull over before you blaze up.

Hell, in San Francisco an on-duty firefighter went through a red light without checking that the intersection was clear, send a motorcyclist to the hospital for a month, fled the scene, and blew .13 hours later.  Paid leave, no criminal charges.

The blowing 0.13 Hours later would most likely be inadmisable to the hit and run itself as they would not be able prove that the dude was drunk at the time of the incident.

Of course, dude was most likely drunk at the time of the incident, so he booked it home and started pounding back the hooch. That way, he could cop out that yes, he did indeed hit and run, but he panicked! And when he got home he had to do a bunch of drinking to settle his poor nerves.

the first time I heard of this "strategy", I was appalled.

If he were a civilian, he would still be facing felony hit and run.

Also, they have him on video swilling water in the interim.

I'm sure if that same cop pulled over a fellow officer who was out of uniform and off-duty, no ticket would be written.

I was thinking the same thing. Was he driving drunk? Was he high? Had he been up for 36 hours and falling asleep?

2013-10-30 07:37:21 PM
he was drunk and had some weed on him, I believe

2013-10-30 09:29:49 PM
He was definitely drunk and they let him off easy.
