Eerie isn't it? It's like looking into the future.

2013-10-30 09:50:44 AM
I'm sorry but I didn't see much of a difference at all...

2013-10-30 09:51:39 AM
That was all ugly from the git-go.

2013-10-30 09:51:40 AM
Just one more example of something that might seem like a good idea at 17 but turns out to be not-so-much thirty years later.

2013-10-30 09:52:40 AM
Of course it makes you look older. You don't think that smoking gives you the Benjamin Button Effect, do ya?

btraz70: I'm sorry but I didn't see much of a difference at all...

Smoking also worsens your eyesight...

I would just like to say the headline was pretty funny.

That is all.

2013-10-30 09:57:19 AM
Smoking also apparently lightens your hair color, changes your shirt from blue to red and gives you large hoop earrings.

2013-10-30 09:57:35 AM
All those people are old as dirt.

What this article is teaching teenagers is that looking 75 when you're only 70 is a small price to pay for looking cool and sexy your whole life.

2013-10-30 09:58:36 AM
Teenage girls need to hear this.  Smoking makes you look older - like sophisticated a twentysomething from the city with their own apartment.

2013-10-30 10:00:24 AM
Wow, a dataset of 3 iffy samples.  Well, that's that then.

"Sophisticated" people don't smoke anymore. Smoking seems to have gone way downhill in popularity among non-inbreeders since we were young.

Although, oddly, Google suggests a number of articles that indicate that the popular kids still smoke.

Maybe there are just fewer cool kids these days.

FTFM.

/I got the first and last letter right, that counts for something.

2013-10-30 10:23:15 AM
No, it doesn't.

This is just propaganda for a generation obsessed with its perpetual youth. How old do your molly's make you look, I wonder? There's a study they should be conducting.

2013-10-30 10:23:17 AM
but what about smoking weeeeeed, man....?

2013-10-30 10:29:42 AM
As someone dating a twin who smokes, I'm getting a kick....

l'd report back on this in 30 years, but her twin also smokes.

Did someone say twins?

My grandmother is a non-smoking twin.  She is still kicking at 87 although she is going blind.  My grandmother now looks like her sister did when she died from lung cancer 20 years ago.

So what you're saying is that smoking causes you to not have the time to worry about looking older.

2013-10-30 10:45:39 AM
Yeah but it's also cold hard scientific fact that you instantly look 47% cooler with a cigarette hanging from your mouth. Don Draper for example.

If you REALLY want to pile on the years be a smoker and a routine tanning salon visitor - you too can look 60+ when you're pushing 40.....

2013-10-30 10:48:25 AM
Kids take up smoking trying to look "adult". Except adults never take up smoking. The only adults who smoke took it up as a kid and are now too addicted to quit. Therefore smoking does not make you look like an adult. It makes you look like someone who was dumb enough to take up smoking as a kid. So if you are a kid who has taken up smoking, you just look dumb.

YES!

Also, the money non-smokers don't spend on cigarettes needs to be saved for all of that extra lifespan nonsense.  Smoking saved my great aunt 240+ rent and utility payments.

Some full time smokers are pretty easy to spot. On women it's usually the mouth wrinkles that give it away. Men it's sometimes cheek wrinkles or excessive crows feet.

2013-10-30 10:52:57 AM
I like it when women smoke because it lets me know they out out on the first date

Put out

2013-10-30 10:55:45 AM
Older looking twins have too much sun. Probably from smoking outside. The younger looking twins must smoke inside.

You would think it would matter if it was the good twin or the evil twin smoking.

Someone that familiar with the smell of a hobo's colon is in no place to pass judgment on anyone.

I know a few heavy smokers and they always have an aura of smoke around them.

Every time I talk to them, I have to stand a few extra feet away just so I can breathe.

Johnny Depp smokes.

And what about their jobs, are they the same? People tend to smoke because of stressful jobs.
If one twin worked in an office and the other was a construction worker...

The only theory I've got is about different jobs tending to be representend by different brands.
I've noticed programmers and IT techs tending to smoke Marlboro or roll-ups, plumber/electricians/weilders/etc to smoke camels and financial/banking going for fancy Stuyvesant/B&H. I'll have to refine that and do some actual work but I can't care enough.

Pictures of my Mother's late cousin could have been used in an anti-smoking campaign--she looked like ancient hag but she wasn't more than a few years older than my Mother (this was 40 years ago).

The air was so thick with smoke you could barely breathe and visibility was noticeably lowered. Skin like a crocodile handbag, teeth like a native of one of those Asian countries where they chew Betel nut. Worst case of pre-mature aging and smoke-curing I've ever seen in a human.

She could have gone trick-and-treating as the Mummy without make-up.
