Anyone have details on exactly what kind of "security cable" this is?  Looks pretty damned tough, he was giving it a few good tugs.

And also by what means it was attached to the tablet!

from the restaurant's Youtube page (and yesterday's Reddit):

Kensington products... a fairly ubiquitous combination lock lasso-style cable along with a durable iPad case covering, both by Kensington US. (Tell them that Pie Hole sent ya! ;-D )

Our SecureBack™ solutions allow you to leave your tablet unattended with the peace of mind that it's protected. Vital in a busy open environments like offices, exhibitions, retail and public spaces.

/and that Youtube page has some awesome comments, with the owner not taking any sh*t from anyone

Wow that is a good security device.  Why they don't lay the iPad flat at the end of day kind of confuses me.  Kind of suprised the thiefs didn't take something else I mean you are already inside the store and there are plenty of things of value.

In the YT comments the owner said it has been there for three years with no problem, and if it is on display every day then even the most amateurish thief could case it during business hours.

If the time code is right, it's before 7 AM. Video doesn't show how they got in at that hour, so maybe they just broke in, or maybe the owner's not wanting to admit they left the door unlocked?

Youtube vidoe shows them using a brick on the one window.

It's not unusual to have both front and doors unlocked when a small business like that is closed.  Deliveries get backed up, no room in the back, so the guy dropping off a single hand-cart worth of stuff comes in the front.

Seriously; why have cameras if you can't make out any facial features?   Where I work we have a lot of cameras but if you don't know the person that did the act you couldn't tell who they were from the video.

They are ubiquitous in Chicago. It's a loyalty program called belly. They supply the iPad, and you scan a qr code for reward points. They have to stand them upright. Most places have them. I was recently wondering if they're ever stolen. Now I know.

You call that service, some one walks into your shop for how long before anyone notices? my hunger for pizza would have diminished if  I walked in the no one was there and couldn't get a counter person no matter how much noise you make.
