I don't know if I want to applaud or step away slowly at the thought of that much pumpkin.

I find the smell nauseating.

Truth. I just went (begrudgingly) to a "pumpkin carving party" (wtf) which was held in the garage, with the doors closed, AND THREE SPACE HEATERS ON.

Oh God, the stench.

Fake. The real Triceratops didn't have lights inside.

The smell of pumpkin doesn't bother me, but that description made me throw up in my mouth a bit. Good gourd, what were they thinking?!

I don't know if I can top it. I know I'm not buying $500 worth of pumpkins to find out.

Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could build a Triceratops made out of pumpkins, they didn't stop to think if they should.

I will say this was pretty cool, because when you loop around in the dark, it really does look like they're coming out of the ground.

I counted about 65 pumpkins used for triceratops.  Who has the time for that?

If I'm remembering correctly, there are between 7-8K pumpkins every year for the display.  It's a mix of 'funkins' and real.  The weather in the Hudson Valley is very changeable this time of year, so for really elaborate displays like the dinos, the dancing ghouls, snakes, etc., it isn't practical to put real ones in the display - they'd rot too quickly.  And they're big.  So the really complex stuff is funkins and most of the work is front end, getting it carved the first time.

I don't know what the ratio of fake: real pumpkins is, but I know they're constantly carving for the month ahead of time, because the real ones they put out do need to be replaced partly through the event run....
