tinderfitles: KISS would be impressed with how much these guys have been able to whore out their brand.

Whoring is one thing (and fark the KISS mafia, they don't belong in the Hall of fame!), actually being TALENTED (even if merchandising is getting insanely out of control) at what you do (making duck calls, creating a million-dollar business, and being lucky to have born into a family that is kooky enough for TV) is another. For all the "Duck Dynasty" bashing going on in this thread, I bet most of yall haven't watched more than an episode or two!

So, you have to watch three before you really get to understand it? All the nuances and complex storylines can be a little overwhelming to a less sophisticated mind than yours, I imagine.

That's actually something to be proud of, not something to be castigated for.

I've also spent very little of my time playing with my toes.

it's not about "understanding", it's about "judging" it as something trashy and uneducated, which it isn't. It's not for everyone, but the bashing seems to be a bit unfounded if you ask me. Just my 2 cents.

I think it's a great sitcom.  The plotlines are goofy, but fun, and the way those guys improv is outstanding.  All of them have good timing, the writers have managed to slip all kinds of old skool hip hop lyrics into Si's dialogue (which is doubly hilarious), and Willie plays a great straight man.

It's easily a better written and acted show than Big Bang Theory.

The only thing unique about Duck Dynasty are volume of the internet white knighters.  The people who watched Jersey Shore at least were openly honest with the fact they were watching scripted, brain numbing spectacle.

I dunno, I think Si might have heard a grandkid of his listening to hip-hop and enjoyed it. It's a theory, but to me, Si is crazy enough to pull it off :P

The point is it's utter shiate, just like Jersey Shore and all other reality TV.   The difference is at least people who watched Jersey Shore admitted they were watching scripted brain numbing utter shiate, rather than attempt to internet white knight it and claim everyone else was unfairly persecuting their favorite shiatty reality TV show.

It's a stupid premise that targets hunters and wanna be hunters.  I like brain dead television just like the next person but it needs to have a point.  I put duck dynasty on the same level as honey booboo (however you spell it) and Lizard lick towing, all garbage marketed to people that don't know much better.

//wife likes to watch Lizard Lick, I have to leave the room it's such a horrible show.

They're not even trying to hide it now... last couple of episodes had some blatant product placement. Between that and the massive amount of $ they're getting from their WalMart merch, they're laughably wealthy now.

Gee, I didn't know I was sooo dumb because I am eating the so-called reality garbage out there. Wow, I am very enlightened you know.

BTW, I am a hardcore liberal (that is married to another liberal who graduated from UC Berkley of all schools) that does "know better". People watch "Duck Dynasty" for different reasons and are from different backgrounds, I can assure you (just ask anyone outside your basement). I watch it because I am FROM Louisiana and it's kinda nice to see a show that portrays my state (for once) in a decent light. The family is a delight to watch and reminds me of my own crazy relatives. I also like the fact that nearly every one of them have a college education (which knocks out a few stereotypes there)!

I dont agree with the hunting and I happen to not be religious in the least. That doesnt mean I can't enjoy the show and relate to the family.

A "real" family that is scripted to do stupid things.  Yup sounds like real life to me.  DD is the same as The Simple Life.
