Almost!  Just off by a few seconds!

Come on!!! Speeding is practically all you can do for fun in Kansas. The wide open roads and flat lands. Protip: Do NOT race with a Tornado.

Thanks for taking on for the team.

Those speed check trailers are supposed to slow you down? I though they were a challenge of sorts.

For the most part, I hate speed cameras. However, there is a 6 lane (divided 3 and 3) road running into DC (185) with nerve-wrackingly narrow lanes (like reach and shake the hand of the driver next to you narrow). I appreciate the presence of cameras on that road because I think they help keep drivers attentive to what's going on around them.

The road also dumps into a traffic circle for added fun.

Give me a ping, Vasili. One ping only, please.

It's not a speed camera though.  It's a speed radar.  You know, one of those that merely blink your speed at you if you're going over the limit posted on the trailer?

Speed trailers do alright testing pitching speed but not so good with running speed. They come equipped with alarms, so a drunk running drop kick will attract attention.

Did not see that coming.

I almost hit a speed camera trailer once.  It was set up on a curve, and the flash dazzled me as I approached it.  I made the curve, but it was close.

I'd just about guarantee they do nothing of the sort.  They keep people watching their speedometers instead of watching traffic.

Abe Vigoda's Ghost: Those speed check trailers are supposed to slow you down? I though they were a challenge of sorts.

Yep.  It's a game of "how high can I get that number to go?"

Reminds me of the video of the copo car parked in the fast lane around a blind curve in a tunnel.

That car seemed to be going pretty fast for a tunnel, but I can only imagine if that car hit the cop it wouldn't have been good for either of them, yet still worse for the civilian.

Some imbeciles here put a "school crossing" sign on a pole in the centerline of a busy street. Thing got taken out in a day. Then they tried again. And again. Then they put up one of those plastic poles that can take a hit. I watched it degrade over the course of a week until finally it was gone. They seem to have given up for now.

Might have been the next generation of speed cameras where if you speed, it attempts to kill you.

$3000? That seems like a deal. A brief Googling showed that counties pay on average $50,000 for each one. Someone is making a killing here.
