That will give Wendy Davis more ammunition in her Governor's race.

Excellent!

My state needs to get its head out of its ass, and stop making laws based on RELIGION. Our state-funded health education programs don't even mention birth control/disease prevention, despite the stats here for teen pregnancy, HS drop-outs, STDs, unwanted kids in the foster system, etc.

Maybe Davis will get enough votes to win--but I doubt it. The bible belt is still cinched real tight in this state.

She made big waves filibustering this law in the Texas Senate, she succeeded, but then they held an emergency session and passed it.  Some of the grumpier Texas legislators then played around with the idea of charging her the cost of having to call the emergency session.

Now she can turn that around and call into question all of the time, effort, and money they wasted passing an unconstitutional law.

It seems to me, from what I understand from Constitutional scholars, stupid laws are really rare. If it's not a legitimate law, the body of government has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.

A nice Fark You to Gov. Rick Perry for signing this into law in the first place, and at least Senator Wendy Davis didn't have to filibuster again to get it blocked.

I am pulling for her so hard! She just blew me away during the filibuster. What an outstanding public servant she is. If I were in Texas, I would be volunteering on her campaign for Governor and dreaming about the White House.

I'm glad it was struck down. What a dumb ass law. Wendy Davis should run for higher office. I'd vote for her. I don't live in Texas but, nonetheless...

You guys realize that the "clinics" that are required to be used by those wanting abortions are operated and managed by Gov. Perry's sister.  Coincidence? I think not!  Boy...he really has made his family and friends rich in this State.

They're in meltdown over there, trying hard to find a way to blame it on Obama even though this judge was appointed by Bush.

I think it's funny that when "pro-lifers" controlled the Presidency, Congress, and the Supreme Court from 2000-2006, there were very few attempts to restrict abortion rights.  Then when the Great Satan took office and Congress went purple, red states began falling all over themselves to restrict abortions.  It's almost as if abortion is just a shiny metal object to stir up the base and most politicians advocating to restrict it aren't really sincere.

Well, calling in that special session of the state legislature totally proved worth it, right, Perry?  No waste of taxpayer money here.

Oh goody.

Go ahead Texas, shine a big, bright spotlight on yourselves.  I'm sure with all the economic issues facing your state, and facing the country, a long vocal fight about abortion is just the thing to put you back on top nationally.

The GOP has run out of social wedge issues to stir up fear among the base. Gay marriage is a moot point now. Old standby fear-generator Communism is dead.  Terrorism is pretty much dead as far as an immediate threat to the US population. Obamacare will no longer be a viable Scary Thing by the time 2016 rolls around.

All they have left is to gin up fear of Other Americans who don't like the same narrow-minded, bigoted, 17th century world view they share.

It's pretty sad when you can't even run a political party that actually STANDS for something, instead of only existing to hate what the other party likes, even if that liked thing is the true and correct thing that will benefit citizens.

Pro-lifers who are pro-death penalty: Save the innocent; kill the guilty.
Pro-choicers who are anti-death penalty: Kill the innocent; save the guilty.

Just pointing that out.
