So far, not a single funk they haven't been able to pull me out of.

It hasn't exactly had a lot of competition. Most of the family movies released this year were mediocre to bad.

The money havers taking the kids do though. We'll jump at a chance to watch something that could possibly entertain us too.

/I enjoyed it almost as much as the first
//I also had ZERO expectations for the first, so it benefited from being pretty awesome

Over all a ok movie, but the wedding scene put me on the floor.

Finished strong.

I, too, am a curmudgeon - but I find those minions to be awesome. Eager, happy employees who follow their leader/CEO faithfully without any consideration of health or safety.
(A lot better that today's whiny "this seems dangerous/illegal" millennials.)

Wasn't high art by any stretch, but the GF and I definitely enjoyed it- and she especially LOVES the minions, which makes at least some of Christmas shopping easier. :D

Despicable Me 1 and 2 are two of the funniest movies I've seen. The formula just works perfectly. And minions are awesome. I took my goddaughter to see DM2 this summer and I, a "grown" man, was laughing louder than the kids in there.

They are cute and amusing.

I can do with more cute AND amusing.

I especially like the interactions in these 2 movies between Gru and the oldest daughter. That right there is your reality ground and allows the rediculousness that surrounds it.
