And then the crazy lady manages to trick the police into thinking that the homeowner was the intruder. She almost gets away except she decides to get naked first, of course.

2013-10-28 10:57:26 AM
That's some fine police work there, Limey.

After taking 20 minutes to respond to a violent home invasion, they let the perp get naked and escape custody.  When they do re-apprehend her outside, they drag her back into this poor lady's house so when she invariably starts urinating, defecating and bleeding all over the place it can be in her living room instead of the sidewalk.

Maybe they're in a town where leaving cars and house doors unlocked are okay. Personally, if something has a lock on it I'm going to use it.

Not in the cities where you might have to wait three hours for the police to arrive after the report of a break in in progress.

Meh, try calling police in your town. Sounds about right if you don't live in a high dollar value area. According to the Supreme Court of the United States the police have no duty to protect your property or life. Unless you live with a police officer don't think for one second that it can't happen to you.

It's why gun bans never happen in the US and why even when a gun ban is in place people procure guns by any means necessary. Gun bans will never stop us from owning guns, it will just turn law abiding citizens into criminals. Truly if you ban guns only criminals will own guns.

On the other hand, in some US cities the police will be there in moments.  The downside is that they'll just shoot everyone standing around.

A three hour wait for them to come do some paperwork after you blow the crazy away. But then we're just paranoid. Home invasions never happen.

Heck, in Detroit you're likely to get told, "Sorry, that's one of our no-enforcement zones. Try to die in a way that will make an entertaining headline."

Breaking and entering does not warrant the death penalty. What authorizes a homeowner to decide whether their life is more valuable than that of a crazed intruder who threatens them?

yes, yes, if the home owner had had a gun, the woman would be in the morgue and not a jail cell.  It's a shame the British aren't as sophisticated as Americans are about wanting the opportunity and means by which to murder someone.

Oh and yes, if the British had our gun laws, the crazy biatch would likely have had a gun as well.  They seem to be issuing them to crazy farkers these days along with their drugs.

I'm with you. Some broad comes in starts strangling your children and you run to the other room and hide? Fark that. Grab something and knock that biatch out. You had 30 minutes!

You are correct, shooting a home invader who physically assaults the occupants of the home is "murder".

At first I thought "DC, NY, or Chicago", only to realize, "oh, just Ol Blighty".

Initial clues:

1. No firearms involved
2. 40 minutes of terror

/ obviously not Texas
// The "Here's Johnny" bit was a nice touch though

Oh please. A baseball bat would have solved this problem. Besides, you assume that someone could get to their gun and not have it used against them.

Since it was the uk, a cricket stick would have worked. ;)

plenty of ordinary things can be used as weapons. Pick up a book, hardcover or even mass market paperback, and smack something with the spine of the book. It's almost as effective as hitting someone with a block of wood if you swing it hard enough.

We've had cougar sightings in my area recently (the big cat, not a mature woman on the prowl) and I bought a used metal baseball bat at the thrift store for when my husband takes the kids out on walks.

A gun in a house with little kids would be more of a risk than anything that ever goes on in my town. Now if I lived in a city I may consider a gun, but I'd probably try to move out of the city first. Too many people crammed into an area brings out the crazies.
