You know who else thought he was quite the artist?

His stuff isn't that bad, honestly.

I just hope some big, gruff Russian artist walked in, stared Stallone up and down and said 'I must paint you...'

Perhaps he should consider interior painting, i.e. living rooms, dining rooms. I'll bet his talents lie there.

All I know is no other actor could do this role justice.

Pretentious tripe.
If the Russians like it, blah blah blah.

Diptychs with mirrors? Lord.

What, his acting or his painting?  The stuff shown in the article weren't eyesores, and though there were a lot of self-portraits that could just be cherry-picking by the editor.  But I really don't understand painting so I'll avoid making any judgement.  At least he didn't just splatter paint on a canvas.

As for his acting, he's a Derek Zoolander.  He's the same guy in every movie, so any criticisms about that are justified, but as that same guy he's decently effective.

I'd say early Rocky was a bit different from his later career. I'd definitely rank him above Schwarzenegger or JCVD.

/Seagal doesn't count, he's basically furniture with a ponytail

No, but it isn't that good either. If he wasn't a famous actor it is unlikely anyone would give it a second look.

This, unfortunately. You can buy "art" like that by the pound pretty much anywhere.

I was expecting something really bad, but he's actually got a modicum of technical skill and an eye for layout.

He's quite narcissistic, however.

I have to disagree. I believe Rocky and Rambo are two totally different personalities, and he makes them both convincing.

Yeah, but he only did landscapes, IIRC.

I think he's a serviceable actor.  Not great, but not truly terrible either... like, say, Steven Segal

If he's starting out, I say give him a chance to tighten his technique.

He was excellent in Copland.
