There's human sex trafficking at the World Series?

SpdrJay: There's human sex trafficking at the World Series?

Just about every major event there will be a huge surge in sex slaves who get advertised on websites like backpage. Often they are underage to some degree and speak little to no English. Their prices often undercut any sex trade current in the location they are in (sometimes as little as 60 dollars for going all the way to greek), and just as the event ends they are moved to another location or event after servicing as many men and women as possible.

Just the tip though.

Oh, I thought maybe some of the ball players were available.

So they've launched their attacks from the East Side? I knew this day would come (giggity). The combined assets (giggity) of the east side clubs have come (giggity) together to strip St. Louis (strip, giggity) of it's decency. There will be thongs (giggity) of strippers polling (giggity) innocent citizens on the dangers of human trafficking.

Sounds a little like the strippers are saying.

They took our jorbs.

Corking your bat is still against the rules.

Huh, I was unaware of the correlation.  I wish TFA would have mentioned this as well.  Gives a little more context to why they are doing it.

There's a World Series of Human Sex Trafficking?  Those guys must be really good at sex trafficking.

This article is 4 sentences. Am I missing something from what could've been an encouraging and alarming story?

What in the wide wide world of sports is going on in that picture!?

And.. how would a stripper or sex worker even remotely be able to spot someone working against their will?  You go up and ask them?

the video is a little more informative.  The big takeaway I got from it is that the strippers won't be stripping, just handing out cards on the street.

That's bad, but from what I've read, the animal sex trafficking problem is even worse.

Or so you've heard?

NJ is already setting a commission to deal with this for the Superbowl.

Allegedly of course

v2micca: Huh, I was unaware of the correlation.

And you'd be right to be.

Although the story gets trotted out every time there is a big sporting event or convention* -- World Series, Olympics, whatever -- and is even often repeated by local sheriffs and AGs looking for a publicity hit, there's actually no evidence of a hidden and insidious mobile sex trade, shuffling captive and unwilling prostitutes from location to location. The same claim was recycled for the London Olympics and was thoroughly debunked.

And by the way, the people saying this are researchers and charities working in the area of sexual exploitation, sex trafficking, and sexual abuse of children. Yes, all those things happen and are horrible. No, they are not particularly correlated to big sporting events.

And right here is the point where somebody will tell me that obviously I don't care about sexual abuse of children if I deny that it's correlated with the World Series...

/*Except for ComicCon, of course, because those people couldn't get laid in a brothel.

Legalize, tax, regulate, get the black market out of the sex trade.

I can pave that road, 3 inches a stroke.

Good; I find the copulations in the outfield at other stadiums so distracting.

Also, I thought that there was no sex in the Champagne Room....?
