I have zero understanding of why people like Bitstrips.  It's pretty much anti-content.  Banality, raised exponentially.

The Las Vegas Guardian Express??? I have lived in Las Vegas 40 years and have never heard of it, who quotes such an obscure publication?

So that's what those things are. They seem dumb.

The way people are whining about bitstrips reminds me of a 5 year old being forced to eat broccoli. Though some of the people are less mature about it than a 5 year old.

I think I've seen maybe two of these things, but I have seen people who seem to be flooded with them, judging by their complaints.

I think you should have to send in a real picture of yourself, and the app should turn you into a cartoon based on what you actually look like. There are too many fat girls out there making themselves look good in their cartoon, when they are disgusting in real life. Probably happens for guys too, but I don't really pay attention there. Also, most of the comics aren't even funny - they're just random crap that no one cares about... Like "Stacy is going for a walk" with a comic of her walking. ?????

(Dont have facebook, never seen these but they look irritating)

That's probably the best description of those lame things, banal. "X goes bowling with Y. 'Yay, Strike!'"

2013-10-27 08:23:40 PM
I've seen a few already use this.

2013-10-27 08:24:01 PM
Those things are annoying.

2013-10-27 08:29:47 PM
I like the funny ones. I "announced" my engagement with a bitstrips. I guess if all my friends did them several times a day it would get annoying.

Well, with 11 million users you're looking at the classic "monkeys with typewriters" situation. And considering the low bar you've set I'd say it's probable.

If only Facebook had a set of controls that allowed you to filter out apps from your feed. Apparently they don't so we're reduced to writing articles out "the flood".

Some people on my fb are using bitstrips instead of updating their status. That's annoying

Guessing the only thing that hasn't mentioned bitstrips in the past few days are my farts.

GAWD I hope that doesn't change... would hate to be in an elevator tomorrow and rip off a "biiiiiiiiiiiiiitstriiiiiiips"
Be embarrassing as hell.

How to filter out Bitstrips. I haven't seen the strips yet.

Based on this thread, I'm going to go do whatever is necessary to make a few bitstrips...

I don't need Facebook to tell me I'm unfunny. I have a wife for that.

You can. Hover over the upper right corner of the post until a little down arrow appears. Click and select "Don't show posts from [app]". And lately FB has had a single survey question appear after you select that asking why you don't want that stupid-ass lame shiat clogging up your newsfeed, for fark's sake.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a filter to simply shut out posts from *all* apps. Or maybe there is. FB is a pain in the ass for finding settings that are nested inside of obtuse menu categories.

2013-10-27 09:08:22 PM
I can draw my own if I wanted that.

/would look a lot better too.

So, just as funny as most webcomics.

Oh, I know. I just forgot to use the sarcasm font. :p

2013-10-27 09:11:45 PM
Oh, I'm funny. Everyone says so. But I can't draw for shiat, and trying to make a cartoon strip from nothing gives me instant writer's block. I need a scenario to work with first.

Bitstrips: The Dane Cook of Facebook apps.

2013-10-27 09:20:42 PM
I've been seeing these for months, and originally thought it was some talentless putz who had delusions of writing a webcomic about his friends. Turns out it's an app for talentless putzes with delusions of being webcomic writers.

RodneyToady: I have zero understanding of why people like Bitstrips.  It's pretty much anti-content.  Banality, raised exponentially.

It's so people can pretend they're funny and talented.

2013-10-27 09:26:08 PM
I was excited about this until I learned that you can't create your own comics, just caption the pre-made ones they give you. This really limits the funny potential.

Yeah, I think that's the key with them: They just look dumb.  Doesn't help that one of the main culprits on my Facebook page is a mother of five who couldn't be more Holy Roller if she was run over with the stone from Jesus's grave.

\seriously, I don't care about your plants.  Or your front porch.  Just stop.

On the upside, I don't get invites on facebook from my friends asking me to try it - yet...

Can't figure out which is worse, seeing 600 bitstrips per day or 6000 Candy Crush statuses and invites.

Someone on my facebook keeps posting this shiat. She's 5'10" and a good 350lbs. Her avatar is skinny. Makes me laugh.
