Dumbass tag's for the "outraged" right?

Hopefully the BBC responds with "Thank you for the free publicity for this program and otherwise does nothing.

He said: "They've clearly made a mistake on this. This is not the standard we expect from the BBC."

Of course not. This is what we expect from BBC:

Yeah I'm still not getting why they're outraged. Did he whip out captain winky during the reconstruction shoot?

No no no. It's for him having done porn.

Don't you know: Once you do porn, you are marked for life. You will never be forgiven by the soccer moms and holier-than-thous and never be able to work anywhere other than porn ever. You shouldn't have done porn, so now you can only do porn. Because porn is bad, so we're going to condemn you to a life of doing porn.

2013-10-27 04:41:37 PM
The family doesn't care.

The people expressing "outrage!" are a Labour MP and a couple Mary Whitehouse type busybodies.

The real crime is that the Mirror gives column inches to professional complainers when the family says they don't care.

Yesterday, a spokesman for Mothers Against Murder and Aggression, said: "We are surprised that the BBC employed the services of someone who has openly worked in the sex industry for something as sensitive as this reconstruction.

"Anybody working with families who have been affected by crime types as serious as this should ensure that nothing they do adds to the families' distress."

Like, uh, airing a primetime reconstruction of a family's traumatic loss?

It could be worse.

BBC could have hired Jeremy Clarkson to play the part.

I thought the Brits like all that "twigs and berries" stuff.

The daily Mail, who really, really, hate the BBC, ran this story with huge outrage headline. Thankfully every comment their readers gave was "So what?"

/thinks that probably would be inappropriate

notably, the parents are not the ones being outraged...  so most likely one of the mothers against murder and agression recognized him from her collection in the shoebox in the laundry room, and got pissy.

unless there is SERIOUS evidence pointing at a "rape/murder of a young girl" end to the REAL story, who cares if someone who's done porn is doing an unsolved mysteries reconstruction thing... they're live-action puppets... if anything a background in porn probably makes them BETTER at that.  one day they're a mailman, then they deliver pizza, then they're fixing the kitchen sink... (and on that note, i've seen porn with more convincing dialogue than some "reconstructions")

TL;DR- reconstruction =/= reenactment, someone who's got prior experience doing "we need you to play this character for this one scene, how does twenty bucks an hour sound" crap got hired, and because the helicopter "have-to-save-everyone-else's-snowflakes" organizations got involved, there is butthurt.

seriously, though, i was talking more about shiatty reconstructions.  it's usually people laughing over wineglasses and shiat while whoever the poor schmuck who has to read THE ENTIRE EPISODE does voiceover telling you what the people you're watching are doing.  chances are in this situation he doesn't even say anything.  he's a live-action puppet acting out what the narrator is describing...  so unless the narrator's going to suggest that he took a little girl and did something to her, see peter griffin above.

Lolwut?  As opposed to being in theater or doing normal roles in smaller budget films?

If the guy was really interested in being an actor, doing porn tends to be a pretty bad career move.  I know there are a few famous actors who may have dabbled early in their career in adult movies.  But generally, persons crossing over from adult to regular film/tv industry is pretty low.

so?  if they hired him because he thought he could play the part, great. it's not a major motion picture, it's not going to be a lead role in a prime-time series...  and THAT'S why they can biatch about it.  there aren't going to be many lawyers involved.  see what happens the first time they complain about bootyk cardassian being on a show because SHE'S done porn.

Remember, when your children see an actor in a TV show who did porn at some point, your children will join a violent street gang and become Satan-worshiping crack whores.

Either that or nothing will happen. One or the other.

Jim Hacker: Don't tell me about the Press. I know *exactly* who reads the papers. The Daily Mirror is read by the people who think they run the country. The Guardian is read by people who think they *ought* to run the country. The Times is read by the people who actually *do* run the country. The Morning Star is read by people who think the country ought to be run by *another* country. The Daily Telegraph is read by the people who think it is.

Sir Humphrey: Prime Minister, what about the people who read The Sun?

Bernard Woolley: Sun readers don't care *who* runs the country - as long as she's got big tits.
