Is this something that actually needs a reboot?

I guess instead of Praga Khan's insipid theme song we'll now have something by Skrillex.

I gotta say that some of the Youtube Legacy videos where freaking awesome! I especially liked the Sub-Zero and Raiden stories.

I really liked the original Mortal Kombat movie.  It was stupid but great fun, and was a helluva lot better than that Street Fighter movie

I enjoyed Time Killers myself.  It was like MK turned up to 11

Rebirth actually looked interesting.  Outing the person who had the vision to start this is a bit disappointing.  For the same reason I am not looking for the next Planet of the Apes movie.  The people with the money think they know what they are doing with their investment.  Something tells me they will fail and fail miserably.

Mortal Kombat definitely needed a reboot, or a rebirth as the name implied.  Kill everything that existed before and give it something new.

There was a Street Fighter movie?  I remember watching a movie named Urban Brawler with Raul Julia's last roll as some dictator type person fighting Jean Claude Van Damme.

The first movie despite PG-13 was good, Part 2...no.

Eh, I felt he dropped the ball on his web series anyways. The initial Rebirth short was amazing, but then we got a web series that was nothing like it.

The first Mortal Kombat will always hold a special place in my heart. It was a fun movie that didn't take itself too seriously.

The second one gets a pass from me just for the line "The fate of the Earth shall be decided as it should be, in...MORTAL KOMBAT" then segues perfectly into the theme song. That scene made me cackle with glee.

The first Mortal Kombat movie was pretty fun, but it was no Dead or Alive.

I'm still waiting for a movie adaptation of this classic.  It's long overdue.

So...just make another fighting game franchise with the cartoonish factor somewhere between a 'wrestlemania' game and a 'Marvel vs. X vs. Y' game?  What would differentiate it from Street fighter, or King of Fighters, or something, at that point? Or would you keep the blood etc. just as the halmark of the franchise?

I'm not disagreeing with you, really, fighting games by nature have crap stories, and when you try to carry one for 20 years, it gets fuddled to say the least.

Injustice: Gods Among Us had the best single-player storyline in the history of video games.  They should do things like that more often in fighting games.

I play pretty much anything, except fighting games. I can only do Soul Caliber, the weapons combos make sense to me, and it's a different style of fighting game. I ramble to say: didn't play. What's the story?

I meant to say "in the history of fighting games".  I've never played a fighting game that actually had a plot, let alone an awesome one.

I disagree. The story mode of Injustice was like an extremely good DC Universe animated movie. It was awesome.

Name a fighting game with a better story. MK9's was very good as well, but Injustice was better.

Persona 4 Arena had a pretty deep story mode.

He didn't say "the history of fighting games" until later.

speaking of that, they should make a soul calibur movie.  considering how popular fantasy series are right now, you'd think it would be a no-brainer to make an action movie based on a video game that includes knights, wizards, demons, ninjas, and pirates.
