I was going to say that this song is definitely metal, but then I noticed there is a fruit basket in the video so I think it's disqualified.

Haven't listened to Helloween for a while. when did they turn into Iron Maiden?

2013-10-27 02:40:13 PM
Wow that was terrible, even for Helloween and cheesy power metal standards...

/ at least it's metal for a change
// meh

2013-10-27 02:44:19 PM
reminded me of maiden. nice to not hear cookie monster at least.

2013-10-27 02:44:26 PM
That was far better than I expected for a band well past their prime.

One recommendation this week -

Stone Magnum - From Time... To Eternity:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvxv-eT7A_0

2013-10-27 02:45:52 PM
That was like a parody of metal. Old dudes wishing it was '84, riffs to no where, and... Native Americans?

2013-10-27 02:46:09 PM
Yo dawg, we heard you like Halloween so we put some Helloween in Halloween, but not Halloween by Helloween so you could complain that this should've been greenlit instead.

Asomvel - Cash Whore (Motorhead worship)

Inquisition - Obscure Verses for the Multiverse (black)

Ihsahn - Hiber (prog)

Skeletonwitch - I am of Death (thrash)

2013-10-27 02:48:33 PM
Something equally appropriate but less cheesy -A Forest of Stars - Raven's Eye View (Louis Le Prince Edit) - maybe nsfw (some blood spatter towards the end)

Godblood- Those Funereal Times

Although I am not a fan of Andy Deris, this album actually is halfway decent.

Ok, I lied, one more recommendation for an album I just found out about, from a great band -

Arkham Witch - Hammerstorm

Ready-set: That was like a parody of metal. Old dudes wishing it was '84, riffs to no where, and... Native Americans?

...singing a song about a celtic festival

Stop suggesting in the comments that didn't make the SHMHC cut!  You must discuss the band at hand, no matter how much you think they suck or aren't fat or hairy enough for your tastes.

THIS is good Helloween, suck it fatties:

Ha. I submitted that with the same redlit headline from two years ago apparently.

Inquisition - Obscure Verses for the Multiverse (black)

Loving what I've heard of this so far and they're farking awesome live.

Ihsahn - Hiber (prog)

It's pretty good but I don't think I'll listen to it very often like his past shiat.

Good stuff!!

I was with Skeletonwitch until the chorus hit, then it got too melodic for me.

I really enjoyed A Shadowplay for Yesteryears. Good farking album.

This week I got the new albums by Oranssi Pazuzu and Inquisition for the site I review albums on. Both are great so far.

The new Inquisition has one of the best riffs of this year IMO

Also, I farking love the new Vaura album.

After last week I was expecting Barry Manilow.

I thought about it, but decided it had been WAY WAY WAY too long since SHMHC had anything remotely new so I went with this instead.  They're far from my favorite, but hey the name is seasonal.

Can't wait to get the new Inquisition special edition CD in the mail Tuesday.  I can use a new keychain, and it's made out of goat leather cause, y'know, Satan.

I liked the Destroyer 666, Megiddo, Mystifier, Necromantia, and Atlantean Kodex recs last week.

Picked up this CD last week: Antediluvian- Through the Cervix of Hawaah (Blackened Death Metal)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91kwdlJpA-w

I also got this from bandcamp for $5: Black Fast- Starving Out the Light (Black Metal/Thrash)  https://blackfast.bandcamp.com/album/starving-out-the-light

New music from Helloween.. that's a surprise.

I think I found out about them from that short lived MTV-X that actually played hard rock and metal.  They played their song 'Halloween' pretty often.

Tomlin has got to go.

This team is a disgrace.

Clearly not prepared in any phase of the game.

I used to love Helloween. This comment is a bookmark, as I can't listen to this yet.

Anyone have any good Speed Metal or Black Thrash recs?  Reminiscent of early Blind Guardian and that Black Fast song I posted above?

I'm really liking this.  Like a whole lot.

Dug Helloween back in the day, it's a shame they're the progenitors of the rather terrible DragonForce (though it is funny to see the blank stare you get when pointing this out to a DF fan)

Ever wonder what Helloween would sound like if they were transformed into Japanese chicks? Of course you have!

Got a three-page list of bands I'm looking for when I go to the used CD shop in Seattle next week, had Liege Lord on there, just added Chapel as well.

HighZoolander: also:

Bestial Holocaust, Bestial Hordes, good shiat - added
