Kelly's Roast Beef?

Ortiz starting at first and Napoli on the bench.  Not entirely convinced that's the way to go.  I'd rather Napoli get the start and Ortiz come in as a late-inning PH if needed.  Not to mention, with the way this series seems to be giving both teams butterfingers, do we really want Ortiz playing defense?

Ortiz has never been a defensive liability at first base.

No, but with there already being 7 combined errors over just the first two games, it seems like having a solid defense is just as important as the bats in the lineup.

That's not how it works. Either Oritz will make an error, or he won't. Previous errors by other teammates that probably won't even be in any of the games in St. Louis have no bearing on this. Having Ortiz at first does not diminish the defense at first base.

So what happens when the CFB game extends into the start time of the World Series?

Lost Thought 00: So what happens when the CFB game extends into the start time of the World Series?

Well, Fox will let football cut into the World Series pre-game no problem.. no one cares about that crap anyway. If the CFB game goes long but looks close to finishing, Fox will delay the start of the World Series game (YES, they have that power). If the CFB game doesn't appear to be ending soon, chances are they'll shift that to FS1 or something and the World Series programming will start as scheduled.

I'd put my money on delaying the WS game then. I can't see them switching channels on this game at the end of the 4th.

They're finishing the game on Fox News, cutting into the back end of the Fox Report.  So whoever loses, it's Obama's fault.

As for those of you watching Fox, you will listen to Joe Buck and you will like it!

Nevermind. It appears Fox values their pregame coverage more than live sports

Well, the 4Q -just- started, right? I guess they figure it's better to switch channels now that towards the end of the game.

2013-10-26 07:40:07 PM
Or they could put Napoli behind the plate.  I am sure he has a few innings under his belt, but probably not with these pitchers.  It also might aggravate his hip.

Either way,
GO SOX.

Yep.  I'm a bit surprised they didn't just kick it over to FNC immediately at the start of the fourth.  But they must have had prior commercial obligations.

I would bet the advertisers paying Fox paid a lot more for commercial time during the World Series pregame show than they did for the OU vs Texas Tech football game.

I am so looking forward to watching 8/9ths of this game

On MLB's website, it says the game starts at 7:30. For the last two games it said 8:07. Is it just weekends that Fox is allowed to screw over the viewer with MLB's consent?

ESPN lists an 8:07 start.  If it said 7:07pm, I could understand because it's CDT time since they are in St. Louis.

theme from Backdraft for introducing the opposing team? Guess I can't hate on that.

Goddam that was horrible. Why can't these "singers" just sing the farking notes, as written, no more, no less?

Stuck in D.C. for this game instead of home in Boston-- looks like I'm hanging out in the hotel room and watching with Farkers tonight. Go Sox!

Or just have the crowd sing. That always sounds awesome.

With Ortiz's playoff history, if I'm rooting for Boston I want him in the game even if he's just sitting in a lawnchair at first base with his foot permanently on the bag.

I'm actually in Arlington, VA (Rosslyn.)  I'd definitely head over there but it's probably not a good idea. My wife is running the Marine Corps Marathon tomorrow and I have to be up by 5am with her.

He has a beard and lines shaved in his hair. He's fine.
