I was referring to the $650 million quote making its way around the right-wing propaganda circuit.

You have to admit, no matter how liberally biased you are, that $170 million dollars for a faulty website is a piss-poor use of money, don't you?

I mean, you could shut down the government 141 times for that kind of money.

It does make me wonder how much it would have cost to move to single-payer.

Yeah_Right: GoldSpider: For anyone who really cares about the actual (current) cost figures:

CGI Federal has been paid $112 million for its work on the Web site so far... Moreover, the federal government has obligated $196 million, so the tab could certainly run that high if CGI submits the bills.

FTA - To sum up: The floor for spending on the Web site to date appears to be at least $170 million, with an upward potential of nearly $300 million.

Oh, only $170 million for a broken site --- what a bargain..!

/rolls eyes...

For a large, liberal government Web site, it is pretty cheap. Clearly, if we have more government and spending, it would be ok.

How many hours in Iraq or Afghanistan does that pay for?

When you don't get what you contracted for, you don't have to pay. What the federal government should do is refuse to pay the last $196 million. If they don't hold back the remainder, we'll know it was a sweetheart deal all along.

jjorsett: Notabunny: The Daily Caller. Digging down deep, to get to the bottom, to stay on top.

What's really sinister is how they managed to remotely mindmeld with the administration and cause it to do this against their will just so they could "discover" it and attack Obama. These guys play dirty.

Discover what, exactly? Michelle Obama went to Princeton, Obama went to Columbia and Harvard. Most large companies will have at least one executive that went to one of those schools, given those schools statuses. This is practically spicy mustard level of point-n-sputter.

Actually, the us army is very good at logistics. However, when "government is the problem", we have to lay off the military personnel and no bid the same job to halliburton "bekuz privat induztri" at 3x the cost.

Are you honestly positing that A) A guy on the Internet is proof that KBR's sh*t works and B) the US Army couldn't do a better job getting food to its own troops, for a lower cost than outsourcing to Halliburton?

I looked at this and several other Daily Caller articles.  The "failed Obamacare website" and and climate denier and more such disinformation crap.  The recurring ad was for AT&T services.  I've heard that AT&T money has been going to teabagger support, namely Rick Perry.  Shouldn't we be boycotting AT&T?

So DC's latest installment of "Obama is worse that Hitler, seriously guys!11!" seems to be a hit with the base if the comments can be believed.

i really wanna believe the "triple Arab" guy is a troll though.

He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of him is mostly  Arab, which he hides, but is disclosed by his non-African Arabic surname and his Arabic first and middle names as a way to triply proclaim his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya. Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he is exclusively. What he isn't, not a genetic drop of, is"African-American," the descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships. He hasn't a single ancestor who was a slave. Instead, his Arab ancestors were slave owners...

Wow, that guy *really* hates Obama's policies.

Actually no bid contracts are OK in some instances like when it is obvious only one company has the resources to the job required and time is of the essence.

I never got that, either. It isn't like there are mom and pop defense contractor companies out there

In some respects things have gotten worse.  During the 90s we had a cut in Defense spending and the search for a Peace Dividend even though there was no real peace.  This lead to a contraction , mergers etc in the Defense Industry.  So today their are fewer defense contractors with some bad side effects.  For example   The Air Force desperately needs new tanker aircraft but Boeing is really the only US company that could supply such aircraft.  Unfortunately Boeing was also involved in a bribery scandal involving that same contract.  While individuals involved were prosecuted and punished Boeing as a company can still compete for government contracts because the only other option in this case is foreign-Airbus.

You see this across all aspects of the defense industry, aircraft, ship building, small etc.  There are fewer domestic major players now.  Heck is BAE now major player /owner of US defense companies.

Same thing happened in the oil industry back when oil dropped below $40 a barrel.

(Similar thing happened in the roil industry when oil wen tbelow $40 a barrel)

Are you posting in the wrong thread?  The question here is whether it's a scandal for a person involved with a thing to have a degree from the same university as the president's wife.

But yes, it absolutely matters who the president is.  10 years ago you never saw articles exposing the fact that some random executive at KBR like totally went to Yale.
