French soccer is entertainment value. I love how they collapse in agony if an opponent slightly nudges or bumps into them...

It's all right, everyone in France who this might affect fled the country thirty years ago when the electorate first had the gall to elect a left-wing president.

The whole 'American sports leagues face union strikes' story framing is a fraud.  In the US, as in this case in France, it is usually the owners locking out players and canceling games.

The last "strike" among the four major sports was baseball in 1995.  The last strike in the NFL was 1987, and the NHL's only strike was in 1992.  Everything else since then has been lockouts, yes.  Though don't be surprised if one happens in basketball if the owners ever decide to take away the player's post-LeBron leverage on choosing their teams.

In Europe, it'd be pretty hard to sneeze and not hit a French footballer, since none of them want to play in their home country.

Hollande is already rightfully extremely unpopular. Hopefully this adds to that.

No sympathy. Pay your tax or die like the huns did.

Who cares, if you already have 1 million Euros a year in income, anything beyond that is more than you need.

Wow.  I'm for the rich people paying their fair share, but 75%?
