He goes mysteriously silent whenever someone asks about Star Wars 7?

Yeah, that makes me think he's already committed and they're going to play up a "will they ask him" thing for publicity.

It's frigging Han Solo. Disney isn't as dumb as Lucas, they seem to know how to make money by making fans happy.

No, he just hates Han Solo. On the rare occasion that he's talked about Star Wars in public, he says that he hates the role and thinks Han is an idiot; there's nothing intellectual or interesting about the character for him.

It is kinda like a rock band that hates playing that one song.  The one that made them famous.  The one that is the only one that fans actually want to hear played live.

OF COURSE Harrison Ford hates Han Solo.  It is all anyone really cares about.  Indiana Jones is an icon, and there are three good to great movies starring the character, but Han Solo is all he REALLY will be remembered for.  They might as well put it on his headstone when he dies - "Here Lies Harrison Ford.  He was Han Solo, and some other characters."

I agree that there's more than a bit of 'fame regret' in his hating of the character, ala Nimoy in regards to Spock after TOS ended. But if you look at all the other roles he's done, there's some kind of hook that makes him interested in the character. Whether it's backstory or a chance to expand his acting range (comedic lead in Working Girl, playing the villain in Cowboys & Aliens), Ford takes roles that click with him internally. And he's said that there's nothing going on inside Han Solo internally, there's nothing for him to relate to in there.

2013-10-26 03:16:18 PM
Dude should just make peace with the fact that he is Han Solo and not be such an asshole about it. The fact is he doesn't really have that much rang. He's great at the limited thing that he does and pointing his finger at the camera.

Ok, let's get pedantic. The "turbo lasers" in Star Wars were obviously not lasers. They were botls of something that couldn't be lasers. And why did they never beam a torpedo into a ship in Star Trek, even with a a Borg ship? Except for once in Voyager.

I never really gave a damn about Lost because I knew the writers going into it. What I object to is this same band of generic fark up writers getting their paws on every project to come out of hollywood and applying their same soulless generic plotcrap to every show. They literally write one show and slap a different name on it and send it out there door. 10 cliche tropes dressed in different clothes and bam you have a new show.

They don't give a shiat about anything they produce.

It has more to do with the writing that is universally accepted as horrible but yet these three guys not only get every writing gig but every producing gig as well. They're not involved with Star Wars, thankfully.

I'm just curious why some people seem to feel as if their personal views on a particular artist somehow outweighs reality and the opinions of the vast majority.

Some people seem sincerely perplexed why these people that they see as being 'terrible at their jobs' keep getting prime jobs...when reality is sitting there going 'because the rest of us like what they do?'

It's just really strange that they can't grasp that if the rest of the world disagrees with them on matters of taste, maybe the rest of the world aren't the ones that are wrong.

I'm curious as to why you seem to think that popularity has any relevance to quality. The "vast majority" sometimes makes mistakes. Sometimes they like shiatty stuff. Sometimes they like stuff because it is shiatty. If you think the guy is good, defend him, but don't do it with such a gross, obvious fallacy.

You can be reamed (rightfully so) for your insane anger about Abrams and Orci and the lot.

Fringe was one of the best TV shows of the 21st Century. Orci.

I bet you didn't even watch, cause you'd rather spend a decade pissy instead.

2013-10-27 07:51:27 AM
Mugato, you are just a whiny little boy who is still angry, after nearly a decade, that you still don't get the Star Trek movies you wrote in your head when you were 14.

It shows, and it's not very becoming.

Hating a guy you don't even know, because of what? OOOO you hate them so much!

Grow the fark up.

2013-10-27 07:56:35 AM
I am a Star Wars and Star Trek fan, and I'm 44 years old and grew up with this shiat.

Mugato is wrong. J.J. Abrams is way better than he will ever be, and he can only whine and dream about being half as talented as his writers.

And it shows in every post you make about this topic, you sad little man.

2013-10-27 07:58:33 AM
Fringe, Mugato.

Tell me why Orci sucked with that.

Be specific. It lasted 5 years.

Tell me how Orci and Kurtzman farked that all up.

2013-10-27 07:59:32 AM
I'll save you the time Mugato, you never watched Fringe, did you?

Too busy hating those guys to actually realize they do good work, right?

I'm going to bed, but I expect tomorrow, Mugato, you'll explain in detail why you hate Fringe and Orci and Star Trek to the point where you nearly foam at the mouth at the mention of them.

Into Darkness was a letdown, sure, but you act like he's farking your ass.

2013-10-27 08:09:55 AM
Mugato, you are a like a sad parody of a sci-fi fan in 2013 now. Really, why are you so furious about these people? It's like some of my right-wing Facebook friends with Obama. You are furious, and you still cannot explain exactly why, other than you'd do stuff different. Wow.

You embarrass nerds everywhere for your insane fury abouit J.J. Abrams, who I quite like, and I'm older than you and nerdier than you. YOU GET NOTHING.

2013-10-27 08:11:46 AM
It is nearly Stardate 2014. Mugato is stuck in 2009, we can only hope someone invents a tech to let him escape.

2013-10-27 08:22:24 AM
Mugato in 1983: Why is this Spielberg getting all the good gigs? I hate Richard Dryefuss! The book Jaws was way different! I can't believe he can just hire people and make movies!

2013-10-27 08:29:18 AM
And I 100% trust J.J. Abrams over your judgement, Mugato, cause I actually appreciate modern sci fi blockbusters. You surely never will, cause you will whine a lot.

You're a weird, and probably drunk, dude but here's the explanation why Fringe didn't die from its awful 'monster of the week' beginnings. I learned this just a while ago as well. Information courtesy of Raktastic.

So it was J. H. Wyman who saved those idiots from their almost pathological lack of desire to produce a quality product.
