I read that three times, and it seems like they're getting their premise from a commercial for a toy store... But that can't be right.

This. It's a farking commercial for Toys R Us. Of course it would be done such that kids would go crazy when told that they're going to Toys R Us for a free toy.  This is one of the more perplexing "articles" I've seen lately.

It's even more retarded than that.  The actual ARTICLE itself references a scientific study (as opposed to a commercial for a shiatty retailer) that says kids DON'T prefer plastic to nature - they spent more time playing with the wildlife when presented the option than the toys.

Stupid headline is stupid.

Yeah they would have reacted the same way if the "field guide" said free bunnies!

Well, yeah, when you hover over kids when out-of-doors, freak out when they get a little dirt or mud on them, and never allow them out of your sight, they may just pick up on that. Outside = too much trouble.

Not that I've been awesome at introducing my kids to nature, though. Gotta do better.

You mean kids *aren't* excited at the prospect of playing with sticks and leaves?? Shocking!

So we're doing psychology research in a Toys R' Us commerical?

I didn't know research was just this easy! Next week I'll find the cure for a cold using Craig's List.

Pretty sure that isn't unique to American kids, subs.
