How does a Klan photo shoot even work?

Do they allow Fat guys in red with a beard giving presents to kids? Or Guys in robes carrying a cross? Or riding Asses? Sounds legit.

/Welcome to your lawsuit.

Da fark. This world has gone farking insane. WTF?? Since when is a cowboy or Indian outfit racist?  What kid hasn't played cowboys and Indians?  Its innocent.  I can image how someone perceives racism there.

No athlete costumes, because that would be offensive to white people

SirEattonHogg: Cowboys are offensive?  To whom?

Especially since those costumes, and "Indian" costumes as well, are really references to old TV shows, not actual cowboys and/or indians.  It's about as historically accurate a reference as dressing up as Wolverine.

grimlock1972: Gyrfalcon: grimlock1972: Potentially offensive? is any costume not potentially offensive to some one?

I'm offended by clothes!!

Trust me you would probably be more offended by your average farker with no clothes on.

Offended, no.

Nauseated, yes, very likely.

Cripes! Wearing a Halloween costume is pretty much protected under the first amendment! Um...what did I just say? Sorry...there seems to be no right of free speech in the US anymore...everyone thinks everyone else is dissing them and must retaliate or something, bringing the government into it.

I kinda miss the "good ol' days," which weren't necessarily all that great, but at least one could dress up and offend people without begging a lawsuit. Commenting with costumes was always hilarious and sometimes thought-provoking.

Halloween costumes are part of the "normal." Let it go!

In the mean time, get off my lawn!

tuna fingers: By the phrasing of the article, it seems that this isn't going to be enforced and is simply a request. The only disciplinary actions will go out to the frat that hosts the Pimp n Ho party.

Correct. Nothing is "banned". CU is asking people to have PC Halloween costumes. If you wear a white trash costume or a sombrero or both, nothing will happen. This is administrative silliness, not official censorship.

Well, that pretty much takes care of the faculty"s Halloween.

Here is the link to the actual statement.

It's basically just saying "Please be considerate of other people and cultures when you're dressing up."

There is no threat of punishment or consequences. And I'm sure it will be ignored by anyone that wants to.

Isn't this the college where the creators of "South Park" graduated from? Wow, how the mighty have fallen.

69gnarkill69: What, Wiccans don't qualify? It's OK to be bigoted against a pagan religion because it doesn't conform to their Judeo-Christian beliefs?

This.

/not a pagan, but know they do the whole costume thing.

ReapTheChaos: Living in Texas I've known quite a few Mexican Americans in my day and I've never met a single one who would be offended if you wore a sombrero.

They will laugh at you, though. Especially if you wear chinos.

I saw some Mexican possibly-Americans wearing Chinese cone hats. Very sad.

bmwericus: I dunno what's been going on in Boulder - that used to be such a cool campus, but some sort of religious or Dean Worner got ahold of the place and seems determined to stamp out anyone having a good time.

I grew up around there.  Boulder always was a hippie-burg, so believe me, this sort of inane political correctness is actually par for the course there.

Dress up in a medieval-style nun's habit, with the back end of an enormous insect hanging out of your butt, and go as "Dean of Students."

I live up in the hills myself on the other side of the divide, Boulder is at the same time, a really nice place and then revoltingly silly.  Always enjoy visits, but have to laugh at it's green image while crawling along in serious traffic.  Reminds me of Berkeley [or vice-versa if you want] but without the gazillion in the supercity surrounding it...and the bay of course.

I think of places like Boulder as the hops in beer:  Not the main ingredient, but it makes the beer much more tasty and interesting.

Have lots of family living there actually.  My parents went to CU [way back when, the road to denver was a toll road].

No witches, you're insulting the religion of Wicca. No movie serial killers like Jason or Michael Meyers, youre disparaging the mentally ill.  No furry animals, that would be making fun of Bloody William :)
