Why? Is there a shortage of witch programs on the air? Is the Vampire market too crowded? Do we need a Buffy reboot?

2013-10-25 09:41:44 PM
What's next, rebooting Sabrina, the Teenaged Witch?

2013-10-25 09:45:42 PM
When is this going to happen? Soon?

2013-10-25 10:25:55 PM
Witches, Vampires, Fairy Tales... where is my mummy series.

2013-10-25 10:33:49 PM
Rose McGowan might have been the best and Alissa Millano was awesome as well but the other girl was nothing to sneeze at either.

Didn't they try to reboot the series within the show, with the girl from The Big Bang Theory and a couple other blondes? They just weren't as hot so they brought the originals back.

/yes, I watched Charmed, eat me

2013-10-25 11:07:15 PM
Shannen Doherty and Holly Marie Combs were my two favorites. But more importantly, the show is supposed to be about "Three sisters who happen to be witches", not "Three witches who happen to be sisters."

2013-10-25 11:13:03 PM
That show sucked. It's only redeeming feature was the good looking actresses. The writing, the acting, the premise, were all crap. Set in San Francisco but filmed in L.A.. Thank the gods Aaron Spelling is dead.

2013-10-25 11:15:19 PM
Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan did it for me. The wife and I watched several seasons. Seems a bit too soon to reboot. Why not spin off?

2013-10-25 11:15:29 PM
I loved that my girlfriend loved that show

2013-10-25 11:15:30 PM
The show sucked, but man, Alyssa Milano was easy on the eyes.

2013-10-25 11:17:09 PM
The only way to reboot this is to do it like the first couple seasons where they were apparently short on cash and couldn't afford bras for the cast.

I don't wish people dead for bad shows, but this.

If there is room for magical hit chicks, and there certainly is (hell I eat that crap up), a new show can easily be written or new tales found in any number of fantasy books.

Throw a handfulof hot actors interested in this type of show and the money will flow.

But don't copy freaking charmed.

I can't recall an American series this young being rebooted for American television before. Can anyone think of examples on the contrary? With that being said: Why Charmed? I don't dislike the series or anything even though I did stop watching it before Shannon Doherty's ass got got.

Why not change it to Sabrina, Teenage biatch?

/too soon?

2013-10-25 11:25:13 PM
Please don't. I want to remember the original in all its campy, goofy, silly, fantastic glory without having to deal with a gritty/sparkly CW reboot. Charmed was great, it lasted a long time and now it's over. Spin off a new story in the universe if you really must, but please, no reboots.

Not quite (you might be thinking about when they faked their deaths and changed their looks and identities at the end of the penultimate season). Kaley Cuoco played a major recurring role in the last season but there was no attempt to reboot it once it ended.

/TNT shows (or at least they used to) 4 episodes a day. I watched the entire series over the course of an extended hospital stay - first out of boredom then later in pure guilty pleasure.
//Alyssa Milano and pre-car accident Rose McGowan are insanely hot
///Rose still looks pretty good considering half of her face came away from her skull.

Holly and Alyssa were the two that really did it for me.

I don't know anyone who ever watched that show outside of a hospital setting.  It was the weirdest thing.  You could go into any hospital room between 5 and 7 AM during the week, and the TV would be tuned to TNT with Charmed on, even if the patient didn't speak a word of English.

2013-10-25 11:36:13 PM
So apparently Rose isn't too happy about the reboot

http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/10/cbs-developing-a-reb oo t-of-charmed-rose-mcgowan-not-a-fan.html

For what it's worth, McGowan doesn't seem to be too thrilled by the prospective reboot. Shortly after news broke, she tweeted "They really are running out of ideas in Hollywood," followed up by, "lame lame lame lamertons."

Alyssa isn't a fan either if this tweet is any indication
The thing about them doing #charmed reboot is... it just... it feels like yesterday. It feels too close.

I loved their charms.

That show was awesome midseries when it became all about getting the girls into some new fantasy cosplay outfits every week. Superheros, Valkries, Greek Godesses, Alyssa Milano as a mermaid. Rose McGowan as a hot vampire.mmmmmmm ............good times.................

Whose Line Is it Anyway?  Though that's more of an extension than a reboot, given that most of the original guys came back.

And it wasn't quite as fast, but 90210 was rebooted, I think, nine years after it went off the air.  Nikita, also came back nine years after La Femme Nikita.

Found one: Perry Mason was canceled in 1966 and rebooted in 1973 as The New Perry Mason.

As for "Why Charmed" - It's got an easy hook in a genre that's popular right now.  And every year CBS tries to launch an off-brand drama outside of its normal crime procedurals.  This year's version (Hostages) bombed, so might as well try something really off-brand next year.

2013-10-25 11:53:16 PM
I do remember the show ending abruptly as hell. I assume it was expecting renewal and was cancelled last minute. I just remember a "Demon of the week"  episode was suddenly "the final battle" and all the sudden HMC is narrating how everyone ends up happily married and how many kids they have in the last 10 minutes of what was an otherwise unnoteworthy episode.

2013-10-25 11:54:19 PM

rugman11: 90210 was rebooted

Don't think that was a reboot, more of a continuation since past cast members did return in their original roles.

Another thing that always cracked me up was how after Pru died they had to so carefully work around that when going back in time or dealing with the past. Every other dead relative popped by every other week in either the flesh or as a ghost to pitch in fighting evil but not Pru.

Yes I watched the show enough to know names and plotlines - fark off.

That's what pissed me off about the later seasons. They tried to act like Prue didn't exist at all.

I think Aaron Spelling just really hated her.

Because these reboots have an abysmal track record. Charlies Angels, Ironsides, V, The Bionic Woman, Knight Rider, etc. They're usually spectacular failures that get cancelled after only a few episodes.

StopLurkListen: by the way, "Lost Girl" is the reboot, er, new hotmess, or whatevs. It's the cleavage-wicca show.

I didn't watch Charmed all that much, but I don't recall nearly as much lesbian sex.

I've seen billboards around for a show called Witches Of East End. 4 hot chicks in slutty pseudo-goth outfits. This is in Ontario, so it may be a Canadian thing. Don't make no nevermind. I'll never watch it anyway.

I stopped watching that after season 2. I realized I was only watching it for the succubus/hot doctor lesbian makeout sessions and Ksenia Solo and nothing else about the show appealed to me.

The Grim Reaper can't get enough of seeing bouncy boobs, so the televisions are left tuned to Charmed by the families as an offering in hopes he passes their lived one by.

I think the least of your complaints is that it is filmed in LA.  My wife's favorite show ever is NCIS (which isn't that bad of a show, I must say.  Leroy Jethro Gibbs is a bad ass), but it so damned obvious that all of their exterior shots are in the valley.  Hell, the navy blue street signs give most of it away.

Everything else you said is true.  Holly Marie Combs is freaking gorgeous.  And Alyssa Milano?  Samantha Micelli turned into a major babe.

Alyssa Milano as a mermaid. That is all.

This show killed a lot of kittens during its run.  I watched at least 4 seasons of it and I have no idea what it was about other than they were witches or something.  It's hard to discern plot while the show's muted.

2013-10-26 12:47:26 AM
Yeah it probably is too soon for a reboot. That show did go off the rails when they started doing the girls get new superpowers/incarnations every week. I would rather had another season of the secret circle. Also there are enough supernatural shows on right now, I'd like a space/sci fi show since there is a lack of them on right now.

The great thing about that show was that each one of the main actresses has each done nudity it some movie or other. So if I ever wanted to I could just cue up the clip of them topless at a moments notice.

2013-10-26 12:56:06 AM
As long as it has gratuitous nipples peering out like the original Charmed, I'm okay with this.

Yeah, Lost Girl episode scripts start out with a scene description like

25.media.tumblr.com

and basically that's the whole show. Plot, I dunno, have some smoky demon thing fight, more cleavage, a Ksenia bug-eyed reaction to plot

img.pandawhale.com

Cleavage, smoky demon, cleavage, male character says something ominous, next-time-on-Lost-Girl-cleavage, roll credits.

It's a simple, successful formula. Replace "smoky demon" with international spies, oil barons, private investigators, whatever, and that's every single popular and successful Hollywood television show.

Is it just me, or does she have one eye socket that is way lower than the other? How is that possible?
