(Capital New York)   NYC horse-and-carriage drivers say deBlasio's idea to replace the carriages with antique-style cars is stupid, and where are you going to find a car that runs on Beef-a-reeno anyway?   ( divider line

His lead just dropped from 64% to 63.998%. Just piss off another 6 million people Bill and this will get close.

By seriously, they should get rid of the carriages.

Getting rid of horse carriages is one thing, but replacing them with fake antique cars just seems pretty pants on head retarded.

Interesting. Lhota actually agrees with DeBlasio on this one, more or less. He wants to get rid of the horses, but keep the carriages and use the homeless to pull them around. He's argued that the stables are nicer than most homeless shelters, and the exercise would help de-addle even the worst wet-brain.

Even though they have laws on the books to protect those horses, the operators of those carriages seem to follow that set of laws very loosely. I was out on a 100 degree day and those horses were out there, dragging fat tourists and sweating bullets. Traffic's nuts around there and it will never get better.

I actually think antique cars is a cute idea. I don't think they need to be electric, though.

Isn't this the same guy who was the only mayoral candidate who said he was fine with the subway line getting shut down to save the Brooklyn kittens?

I'd have no problem with horses in Central Park, as long as they were restricted to interior pathways that are not open to motor traffic.

This means they have to get on a truck to be transported to and from their stables, and it means that Central Park South must not be coated with a half-inch-thick layer of horse shiat at all times.
