This is relevant to my interests. Thanks for the heads up, subby.

the "reflektor" song is pretty catchy, but their performance on SNL a few weeks back, when the chick singer scurred offstage into the little mirror chamber and danced around, that was pure Spinal Tap.  she looked like an idiot and that alone ruined the performance.  i was hoping Win would do the, "......this was her idea...." a la spinal tap's jazz performance.

arcade fire chick, tone it down.  that's why i can't get into this band fully.  whenever i see them perform, she always has to do something dopey and overly contrived.

just kidding, they suck.

The here comes the night after the show was farking awesome and she was kept in check.

Hated suburbs, but I'm really digging this sound.

i'll look for that as both songs were -- as someone who largely hasn't "got" arcade fire -- pretty cool.  and on the stage call for the last part, you saw Win motioning to camera that hew as going to play, but i didn't know it was aired,or at least made available somewhere.  i'll look for that.

Rtp, it's on YouTube in its entirety with celeb cameos and all. Fey nailed it when she said its about to get weird. Just search for here comes the night and it should be about 20 some minutes long

Funny, I loved the previous sound and don't much like this Fear of Let's Dance retread.

They were just on Colbert? Man, I thought the band was "Reflektor". I must not have been paying attention. Now the "Arcade Fire pretentious" joke makes sense.

Enjoyed the song they played. The SNL appearance not so much...

Did she do the dopey, "dance inside the mirror chamber" move on Colbert?

I don't even remember seeing her. I think that's why the "Reflektors" joke worked so well. The one brother was freaking out on the keyboard though, so any other tard like movement was overshadowed.

Good song though...

I loooove Arcade Fire, and I've only heard the new single, but I'm not really into it. It's too disco-ey. I really hope the whole album isn't like that.

The reflektors joke didnt work. I don't know who Arcade Fire is, watched about 5 minutes of them on Austin City Limits a couple weeks ago before deleting them, and didnt know who they were on Colbert. I thought it was stupid. I guess they just arent for me.

Her art has been commended as being strongly vaginal which bothers some men. The word itself makes some men uncomfortable. Vagina.

By "worked so good", I mean I had no idea it was Arcade Fire. I liked the song they did on Colbert. The song they did on SNL was cringe-worthy. I skipped the second song (thank you, DVR).

Actually, the band is all Anglos, save for one (Régine), who is of Haitian descent (go figure, as she's not black).

/Arcade Fire is very over-rated
//Wolf Parade is a better Montreal band

I always thought his voice had shades of Roger Waters, just an octave lower than ol' Rog usually does.

In the same way that The Smashing Pumpkins is a Japanese band.

All of the Arcade Fire members are anglos, except one.

They're really in love with their own shiat.

I have trouble getting into them, and have seen them live.  They have this vast, anthemic sound, they clearly want to play anthems that set up big ideas and big sounds...  yet they don't have any songs.  Not a single anthem comes out of them, it's kind of bizarre.  Might be a regrettable experience, but it's like you want Green Day to sit down and teach them how to write a hooky, rampant-ass song, a la the whole American Idiot album.

Gah.  This is exactly how I've described them.  "They're like the Talking Heads without actual songs."

Woops.  Should have refreshed first.  Sorry Cheesecake.

/Metric and Stars are also better Montreal bands.

Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: They have this vast, anthemic sound, they clearly want to play anthems that set up big ideas and big sounds... yet they don't have any songs.

Agreed.  Their song seem to be going in one direction, then one of the musicians will start playing (or Vim will start singing) something  that complete ruins what they were trying to do.  I have tried many times to get into their stuff, but I can't.

Ha, not at all! The new single sounds like a pretty significant departure from their stuff on Neon Bible and Suburbs. I'll check out the album on YouTube l, but I hope it's not all disco.

This band is like cilantro. I know people, whose musical opinions I respect, who swear to me Arcade Fire is a brilliant band. For me, Arcade Fire tastes like dish soap. Let me explain further: they are a dipsh*t college art project masturbating to their own unfocused, non-enjoyable, lame-as-f*ck songwriting, sound experiments.

Insufferable.

well, only the last two songs (on SNL) i found intriguing.  their other stuff just didn't move the needle for me, independently from how her dopey, self-importnat BEHOLD THE ARTISTIE! behavior was contrived and distracting.

Reflektor is admitedly catchy, but i'm just saying her shiatty mirror-chamber dance was dopey and contrived.  go watch it.

and also, keyboard dude with the 6-7" of forelock hanging over his head.  hey dipshiat.  knowing that since you huddle over your keyboard, maybe if you cut your hair, you woulnd't have to brush it aside every 2 seconds.

or, Win's little stupid racoon face makeup on the seocnd song.  one, it was applied very haphazardly.  it looked like he just half-assed it.  and then, it had nothing to do with the song.  and then, he wipes it off for the show-ending stage bow.  commit, dude.

this is the kind of shiat i'm talking about with this band.

My introduction to them was on SNL in 2010, and I could not stop listening to this song:  http://youtu.be/Ab2DDmwYVQw

Something mesmerizing about it and her semi-likeable goofiness.

I can't stand anything else I've heard from them. Oh well.

They are what happens when you allow all art to be justified as profound. They just do things for no reason because hey, that's art!

I'm wearing a fish for a tie. WHAT DOES IT MEAN? No, you can't possibly understand. It's too complex.

There are certainly hit and a lot of miss for me as well. Some of their stuff is very good, followed by truly unlistenable crap. I can't think of another band that gives me such wild swings.

You obviously never seen them live.  They have a couple good songs but i saw them open for U2 and they were annoying on stage.  I hate bands who just stand there but they were overboard to the point i was like stop the theatrics!
