Finally, the kids are getting off our lawn

Remember when Myspace was what teens thought was cool?

Great. So do I.

Now remember when Myspace didn't suck? Me neither.

Not to be that guy but I never thought it was cool to begin with

/I also don't own TV
//I'd tell you about my favorite bands but you've never heard of them

Great. When can we lose Twitter?

2013-10-25 10:23:25 AM
I don't give a shiat what's cool. It's a way for me to stay in touch with my friends and family without having to actually commit to an entire conversation every day.

2013-10-25 10:34:46 AM
Yeah well when we were kids we thought bell-bottoms were cool and the one thing that has remained consistent since then (and presumably since before then) is that kids don't know shiat.

2013-10-25 10:40:15 AM
It's not supposed to be "cool".
It's a tool to keep in touch with people.

Sybarite: But Google+ is still cool, right?

Is that that thing that Google keeps trying to get me to sign up for every time I log into my gmail account?

Pictures of cakes and kids and dogs.
Edgy.

You mean giving mom and grandma a chance to "Like" your bukkake link isn't fun?

Are those sites really competing all that much? Twitter is more for following what things are happening on the web right now, but it is incredibly ephemeral compared to Facebook. If you aren't watching it right that instant, the tweets are gone and something else is in your feed. Similarly, Instagram is great for photos, but it doesn't completely replace Facebook in terms of functionality,. Even though respondents are saying that a particular service is their FAVORITE, I don't think you can take that as saying they have abandoned the other. Its not like console gaming where you have to make a big investment in one platform or the other. Aside from time and attention, there is zero cost in using multiple social media platforms.

The other is that teen chicks look good in anything, including bell bottoms.

Quit making sense!

I'm thinking of buying into Twitter. A lot of people have no idea what it's used for, but giving access to everyone to write a message to the entire world isn't going to go away any time soon, is it? The people who think it sucks are the people who think it's only used for idiots letting others know when they're taking a shiat.

If there is any kind of breaking news or live event I want to know about, the first place I go is Twitter.

Fark I wish I bought some LinkedIn stock during the IPO. That site isn't going away anytime soon either.

Google+ was never cool, but iGoogle was actually useful, but it dies in 7 days.

I still don't understand why igoogle is shutting down. Will there be another customizable home page option? I really don't want to have to make Yahoo my home page, but a one stop shop for stocks, weather, and a few other things was really convenient. Google+ can go die in a fire, but igoogle is great. I'll miss it.

I must find out what that unnamed "other" social media web site is so I can remain hip, cool, groovy, fresh, frosty, "not Herbert", mod or whatever the latest phrase is that would indicate I am worthy of being included in their clique.

At 32, I must be too old to understand Instagram.

Android has all of those filters and more included in the OS.

I'll bet people actually think when they twitter the entire world sees it.
Same with many bloggers, they think The World sees their every thought.

Like I said, it's not cool when grandma or mom can "Like" your porn links.
Life doesn't work like the sociopathic facebook model.

I already jumped the iGoogle ship and switched over to igHome (http://www.ighome.com/).  I would say it is 80-90% as good as iGoogle plus you can export your iGoogle data and then import it to igHome and save all of your settings.  So far I have benn pretty happy with it (though I would prefer if iGoogle wasn't put out to pasture).

OMG, you mean that when I search "Southwest Airlines" on google, that it gives me a nice layout of useful deep links to the SWA website, and doesn't just spam the front page with mentions of SWA from cunningly SEO'd blogs and GoDaddy parked domains?!? THE HORROR

BRB, switching to Bing.

But where else can you see photo after just off-center photo of grass-fed steak topped with a pat of grass-fed butter next to a paleo pumpkin muffie with a vintage fork slightly askew?

No, I am saying there is no room on the iGoogle page for the new ads. Hence, the iGoogle page is going away.
