(Global News (Canada))   When one names his child "Royal", or one's child possibly names himself "Royal", one might assume that he would not die at the age of 19 while car surfing. Alas, one would soon learn that one's assumption is mistaken   (globalnews.ca) divider line 96

I had an Uncle Royal.... He grew up dirt poor in a rural part of Nebraska, and went to a one room school house. Left town to work for a telegraph company. Ended up in Buffalo N.Y. and met his wife, my Dad's sister. Became a city detective, and a damn fine one. Dropped dead the day after his mandatory retirement at 65 years of age.

If he hadn't, five years later some young detective would have come to him and said "you worked on the Hatbox Murders back in the day" and he'd say "yes... the worst case of my career.  Horrible business, and we never caught the culprit.  Let me show you the box of files I kept on it, just in case it started happening again and you came by to ask me about it."

That's ridiculous. This guy willingly got onto a moving car for a cheap thrill ride, those kind of charges are for drivers whose negligence cause harm to innocent people.

This is the real tragedy. A 16 year olds life is now pretty much screwed. 19 year olds probably goaded him into being the driver. What is a 16 year old (still a kid basically) doing hanging out with 19 year olds (young adults) anyway?

Also never, ever, let your kids hang out with kids with nick names like Royal, goes double if their nickname includes "the" in it like "Mac the Knife" or "Vinnie the Sicilian"
