I'm not a big fan of remakes but it's got to be better than another Hellraiser sequel. There is a lot of creepy potential in that story.

I just watched it again last week, and Hellraiser is one of the few movies that really would benefit from a remake. Some of the sequences hold up really well (the initial re-animation scene, the Cenobites, "Jesus wept", etc.), but then there's some jarringly hideous 80s clothing or a comically bad monster chasing someone down a hallway. Looking forward to it.

This one looks to be an actual attempt at a movie, rather than a "we're going to lose the rights to the franchise if we don't call up Roger Corman and get something in the can next week" exercise like the last one was.

Yeah, I agree with you. I just hope they do it justice...in a timeless way...

Eh wasn't involved in some of the Hellraiser sequels.  Apparently, he didn't realize what he signed away to the studio when he signed his contract.

there's just something about seeing an actor interacting with a tangible real-world effect.

knowing that the effect is sharing the same physical space as the actors earns the movie points in my book.

recently I watched "Hellraiser" for the first time in about 20 years. The effects are almost cringe-worthy by today's standards, but as you settle in to the movie, you accept them and it works and it makes you appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship of the Rick Baker's and Tom Savini's out there.

Saw the original in the theater when I was in college. The girl I was with told me later that she was on her period at the time and the movie REALLY freaked her out.

I love Clive Barker.

Yes.

It's been showing at small cinemas around the world.  It was here in Australia for a limited run, but I missed it.

Met Doug Bradley at a horror fest. He signed "see you in Hell" on his Pinhead pic for me. /when I went to his booth earlier, there was just a sign up that said "Doug Bradley has gone to hell (lunch). Even Cenobytes get hungry"

You didn't like the Cenobite that threw CDs?  I guess in the remake, he'll use USB thumb drives.

I'd rather see Nightbreed remade, preferably with Guillermo del Toro in the director's chair.

How can they get someone more dirty baggy than uncle frank?

"I am brother Frank, I am here for the wedding, you got a towel?"  They next thing you know he is railing the bride.

They can get the original Kirstie to play the evil step mother role.  She is still hot.

Instead of writing the same story over again, they should do a new movie with the story-lines from the comic series Clive Barker put out last year.  I just finished the second of three books; that new storyline is way more interesting than the Uncle Frank story line from the original movie.

A buddy and I watched Hellraiser 3: Hell On Earth last week. It wasn't up to par with the first two, but still had enough gore to keep us watching. Pinhead had more screen time, which was good, but the other Cenobites were missing and they're just as powerful as he is. It had a good story line and stood fairly well on its own, but there was still something missing (other than Pinhead's evil cohorts).

If it's closer to the book this time, I might be interested. For example, include the whole sequence of Frank meeting the Oder of the Gash, and not have Kirsty be the daughter.

KhamanV: What he needs to do is finish The Scarlet Gospels.

It's finished. Via Clive's Facebook page last month:

"I thought you might like to know that THE SCARLET GOSPELS, a large novel which sets Harry D'Amour against the Hell Priest Pinhead,is finished, and has been delivered to my agent. I don't yet have a publication date for it, but as soon as I do you'll be the first to know. I won't say anything about the narrative except this: it's a HORROR NOVEL with the graphic violence and perverse eroticism of the most intense tales from the Books Of Blood. Please feel free to share this news with any friends who might have been wondering about the book: THE SCARLET GOSPELS ARE FINISHED."

Holy shiat!

VenomousDuck: And of course this will have necrophilia because Clive Barker.

What are you basing this on?  I've read the books/seen the movies based on his work and I don't remember any necrophilia, much less enough for it to be assumed as a theme of his work.

Wasn't The Scarlet Gospel supposed to pit Pinhead vs Harry D'Amour and be the Ultimate Final Ending Of Hellraiser Forever?

/Hasn't read TFA, will get on that now.

saw it at a screening w/Doug Bradley at Dragon Con.  I was really, really excited about it.
It...needs a lot of work, and I don't honestly think there's a salvageable good film there.
