The USDA cannot issue a recall. They don't have the authority. Only the FDA has that. The companies must issue a recall.

LIsteria really isnt that big of a deal unless you are old, young, pregnant or immunocompromised. The most that will happen is you'll probably get the shiat and an upset stomach.

A few years ago there was a recall on lettuce, the store where I bought it was kind enough to call me, a full three days after the expiration date and a full week after I finished it.

My only thought was, "well that explains all the pooping."

Welp, guess it's time to thaw out that ham that we lost to the bottom of the freezer two+ years ago. At least I know that one is safe (and vacuum packed...)
