If the Saudis want to buy weapons for the Syrian rebels, they can go right ahead.

Can you throw in a 'they can then kiss my rosy red ass' too?

Since this won't affect their oil output, does anyone really give a rats ass?

Seems everyone has an opinion on what should be done with Syria, but expect us to be the ones to do it.

Tell you what - take some responsibility for your own grand ideas and leave us the hell out of it.

Yep, let them send their terrorists in training somewhere in their own region. We get it, the Sunnis don't like the Shia/Alawites. Haven't for centuries. Apparently the US has become a net exporter of oil, so Saudi Arabia is becoming a SEP. Good.

I know my post was unrealistic, and regional issues like this don't stay contained yadda yadda.

I'm just so sick of everyone, including our own politicians, talking out both sides of their mouths about us acting like the world's police.

We're mad at America but please don't stop selling us PATRIOT missiles.

Nah.  We may not have to import oil, but they still have an effect on the global price of oil.

Anybody who complains about the state of US-Israel relations (and that's not unjustified) has zero credibility if they don't concede our alliance with the House of Saud is at least as problematic.

Let's send Bush Jr back there, he can hold hands with a dude and fix relations.

You know what, you can just keep him.

It's just too bad we don't sit back and sell everybody weapons and let them fight it out.  It would make for some good TV and give the Military industrial complex something to do, and we could make some good money.

You know what, this should be broadcast in every possible frequency in every possible language throughout Saudi Arabia's political sphere:

"THE UNITED STATES IS NOT YOUR PRIVATE MILITARY."

If they have such issues with the bloodshed in Syria, warming relations with Iran, and dropping support for a coup in Egypt, then they can bloody well step up to the plate and do something about it.

2013-10-23 12:35:06 PM
Well, its a bit more complicated than that involving split opinion's on Egypt, Iraq, and Syria of course. Syria was sort of the last straw as it were, though both countries still need each other. The main reason Saudi Arabia wanted to do something about Syria is because the rebels are the "good" Muslims the Sunnis, they totally want a Sunni state in Syria. That Iraq isn't a Sunni state probably annoys Saudi Arabia too, I mean the least we can do when we invade a country is set up a puppet government with Sunni control! Hmph.

2013-10-23 12:35:22 PM
Saudi Arabia is a cesspool of slavery, oppression and man children billionaires.

Don't talk bad about the Saudis. They are job creators.

/And the new tower is almost finished.

No joke.  We've been selling them the best in western strike fighters for years now.  Take some of your Tornados and Strike Eagles and knock out Iran's nuclear facilities if you want them gone so badly.  Israel has pulled it off a couple of times; why can't the Saudis do the same?

/oh yeah, they'd rather we do their dirty work for them

2013-10-23 12:42:52 PM
I'm tired of the US bending over for the Saudis.  They kicked us out of our bases there, let them defend themselves.  With there overpriced oil, they can buy plenty of contractors and suicide bombers.

2013-10-23 12:45:10 PM
I'm pretty sure we've sold enough f-15s, f-16s, upgrades and bombs to the saudis that they can bomb whoever they want.

Does anyone, anywhere outside of Saudi Arabia, think that Saudi Arabia is awesome?

I know a few Saudis, and they despise their country. More accurately, they despise the rulers of their country.

Of course, pop into a Fark thread about hybrid or electric vehicles, building mass transit and rail, bike lanes, etc.  Suddenly, the Real Patriot Flag Americans are all for boosting the price of oil as high as possible with their 20-ton Canyoneros, because soccer practice and therefore.

I KNOW, me too! You'd think being forbidden from driving, being chauffeured everywhere and monitored like an escaped convict would be reassuring and a relief, but apparently not.

FTFA: Prince Turki al-Faisal, a member of the royal family and former director of Saudi intelligence, said in Washington that... "The current charade of international control over Bashar's chemical arsenal would be funny if it were not so blatantly perfidious. And designed not only to give Mr. Obama an opportunity to back down (from military strikes), but also to help Assad to butcher his people," said Prince Turki.

I have a question, "your highness."  Are your sons and daughters in the Saudi military, or so they spend their days lazing around like many other Saudi "royals?" And why is this important enough for the US to get involved, but not worth firing up all that military hardware we've sold your country for the past several decades?

What gets me is the whole "not accepting a UNSC seat out of protest" thing. That seems more of a counterproductive tantrum than anything else.

Without a UN mandate and the Russians there?

For all we know Russians are actually manning those SAMs they sold them, just so that they don't look like failures.

Good. We need to not be allied with a country that disallows women from driving because it might "damage their uterus"

Well, considering that the US is going to become one of their primary competitors,
I makes sense that they'd be a bit peevish

and the US will be reducing the amount it imports from Saudi.

Well, that would worry them a bit...

See, unlike the US, the Saudis really don't have much else other than oil as income.
So when you take only food from the table...others tend to get pissy.

The US is now a triple-threat.

2013-10-24 04:14:18 PM
The Saudis want us to crush Iran, not engage in diplomacy with them.
