He just stood there whistling, "there goes the bride" as she walked out the door...

Normally I would say that the "dumbass" tag was in order.  But here I'm conflicted.

"She was getting ready, expecting you were going to be man and wife and a very solemn public event in her life and you knew that was not going to take place," the judge said. "You did not say 'We need to talk.' You tried to weasel your way out by creating a bomb hoax so the wedding would not take place."

Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals... except the weasel.

12 months? Isn't that a little extreme for causing people to run outside and making himself look like an ass?

You'd think the embarrassment alone would be punishment enough

He called in the bomb threat to divert his fiancee's attention from the fact that he hadn't sorted out the paperwork in order to get married, not because he didn't want to get married.

Every time I hear the word "weasel" I think of this and get a laugh:

congratulations, not only did you ruin your wedding by not fessing up to your mistake, you made it infinitely worse by calling in a bomb threat that only exposed your mistake for all to see and resulted in a prison sentence. bloody brilliant
