I clicked on the article expecting to read that Nancy Pelosi was going to be doing a lot of public speaking in the Capitol Building soon.

I hope you didn't waste all of study hall coming up with that.

One can only hope for a real-life Under The Dome situation

They elected Sandra Bernhardt to Congress?

Since the place is filled with boobs, they should put lights on the scaffolding similar to what they have at the Washington Monument, except when lit up the dome can look like a big giant boob.

2013-10-22 06:12:57 PM
I actually like the scaffolding on the Washington monument.

2013-10-22 06:15:58 PM
It's a shovel scaffold-ready job. What's the problem? Get to work.

kim jong-un: I actually like the scaffolding on the Washington monument.

People liked it when they first used it in 1999-2000. Great they could re-use it (or at least the design) after the earthquake.

We are entering what they call "The second time of things" which will undoubtedly call for impromptu masonic rituals to be carried out.  The readings themselves warn of this time and the need for greater secrecy as these rituals must be performed before a sunrise and set have occurred if opening a seal calls for it.  There are 708 seals being brought out of the catacombs to be opened 1 a night.  Obviously this is the solution to arbitrary closings and blockage of public view of the third stone tier ring, where the "walking eye" will be making a complete dome circuit for each vessel, territory, and purpose represented at that particular ceremony.

I'm glad someone does.  I have to see it every time I drive to my girlfriend's place, and I'm not a fan.  I understand the reason for it, but I wish there was some way to expedite the repairs and get that crap off the monument.

They should build a sarcophagus around it and call it America's Chernobyl.

Then build a new one in Montana.

2013-10-22 06:36:23 PM

Etchy333: They should only do repairs on an as needed, emergency basis.  You know, just when the dome is on the verge of collapse, they should go in with cranes and teams of emergency repair workers to prevent that from happening.  Unless there's some wacky principle where doing preventative work actually makes the cost of repairs and care go down over time, but that doesn't sound right.

The scaffolding around the dome will be there as part of a restoration project overseen by the Architect of the Capitol

Ah, so this guy subcontracts some of his work:

They should hire those rotund fellows from Goblin Valley State Park.

HotIgneous Intruder: They're installing a giant carapace of human shiat on the dome?
About time.

But how will the Fark Independants™ be able to post to FARK from there?  Unless the NSA installs wireless for them....

Only 150 years and it needs repairs. The ancient Romans scoff at your engineering techniques.

The term "preventative" is a dirty word to Libertarians. In their world, it's "never try to fix something because it might break, wait until it actually breaks before you do anything".

Hawk:  Five-Tone, let me ask you something.

Five-Tone: Go ahead.

Hawk:  Why they leave all these rocks and shiat laying out in the back yard?

Five-Tone:  They're called 'ruins', Eddie.

Hawk:  Ruins, huh?

Five-Tone:  Yeah, ruins.

Hawk:  Good name.

nice strawmen. Never ask a liberal to use logic...hey it's not a strawman, these liberals just failed at it!

While they are at it, add lightning rods to the dome and run the wires under the seats in the House and Senate.

All that hot air pressing up from the inside was bound to cause structural damage.

Whew, I thought they were propping Strom Thermond's corpse back up. That codger wasn't attractive when he was alive and death probably hasn't improved things.

He's also 150 years old and has slave labor in his history.

Wouldn't surprise me that that damnfool district re-elected his corpse.

If you were a Mason, you'd know how rare is the incidence of the concept of "impromptu" in Masonry.

Why are they doing this? Why don't they let it deteriorate and eventually collapse? If Congress doesn't want to spend money on infrastructure projects for us riffraff, why should we allow our tax dollars pay for this overhaul of the Capitol dome?

Taima: Why the SAD tag?  It's getting fixed, it will look better and will last a lot longer.  Gotta take the ugly for a while, but it will be worth it.  Don't know how much work they are going to get done in the fall and winter in DC however.

Because it should be torn down like the Berlin Wall.

It's a symbol of tyranny and oppression all over the world, like the hammer and sickle.
