The_Six_Fingered_Man: Wait. There is an actual plot, with story and such, in GTAV?

A very good one. Yes.

As there was in IV, SA, VC, and III.

The cool thing about V is that the story is a bit more alterable depending on what you do with the characters, who you choose to control, and what you opt to do in the end.

I disagree. The methhead psycho actually ends up saving the guys life. I thought Trevors intro was much more brutal, especially if you played the lost and the damned.
Kibitz was the most moral member of the lost, reduced to a spineless meth head and summarily curb stomped in front of the woman he loves.

Lol

That's the size of the leaked console version that was real and actually worked.  I bet most of it was filler data.  Like 98% of it.

Yeah. That Trevor intro was a bit brutal. The guest appearance (and the side mention of Nico in another cutscene) made me wonder when they were going to bump into any of the other characters from past games. I would have loved to see what CJ is up to in 2013... And hear the subsequent confusion when Trevor says he sounds JUST LIKE Franklin.  Hmm... I'm wondering if Franklin is CJ's illegitimate kid.

How cool would it have been if we bumped into Tommy Vercetti?

viscountalpha: xalres: stewbert: I'm trying to be patient, but the game isn't much fun so far. On one of the main missions, I was actually tasked with beating a kid in a bicycle race. I thought GTA stood for grand theft auto. I'm about to go back to Borderlands 2.

It gets better. The missions where you have to switch between characters to accomplish different tasks on a heist or a job are especially well done. I just did one last night where the three guys had to extract a dude being questioned on the 28th floor of a high rise. I had to fly a chopper up next to the building as Trevor, switch to Mike, rappel down to the floor the target's on and break the glass, then switch to Franklin, who was set up on a rooftop with a sniper rifle and help clear the floor of baddies, switch back to Mike to take out the stragglers Franklin couldn't get a bead on, switch back to Franklin to take out one of the choppers now swarming us, switch again....you get the idea. It was awesome.

......and....and then I did yoga.

yay

You forgot about the torture part. The guy you extract get tortured. Worst part of the game, ever.

You know, I was all prepared for some horrible shiat, but it really wasn't as bad as all that. Yes, it was torture, but I didn't see it as any worse than curb-stomping bikers and mowing down pedestrians. What made me feel bad was that after the torture the guy was supposed to be killed. Trevor's response to that was a great twist on his character.

Trevor really is the video game poster boy for "Chaotic Neutral".

GTA games have been a large part of so many people's lives and it's a big shame not seeing the newest iteration of the game being released on the most powerful platform. Things like modifications have always been a HUGE part of PC gaming and modded GTA is some of the most insanely fun times you can have."

And I love that the entire argument in the petition for releasing GTA V on PC is so they can completely change GTA V from what the developers wanted.

because small groups of modders have unlimited resources to make their own stuff right?

There were some GTA IV characters who appeared aside from Johnny, but aside from Lazlo, El Burro and Love Fist Rockstar said that they consider the first GTA games (GTA, London Expansion, and GTA2), the last generation GTA games (III, Vice City and San Andreas) and the current generation (IV and V) to be existing in different universes separate from each other.  So CJ couldn't be related to Franklin.

Not sure why they decided to think about it along those lines, because it would've been cool to run into old characters like that.

It's bound to be. Viruses and malware generally aren't large files. I'd be curious to see what else is packed in there, if it's just gigs of dummy data or any actual files used to pad the archive.

Love me some timed missions in shooters. Almost as fun as stealth missions in shooters.

I'm not sure what your point is.

My point was that the petition to get GTA V on PC did not say anything about actually wanting to play and enjoy the game, all it said was "Please release the game to us so we can change it."

A stealth mission done right in a shooter can be a very welcome change in pace as long as breaking stealth an auto fail of the mission. Heck there have been times where I did a self imposed stealth rule in levels for the fun of it, in which there was the ability to do so.

Rockstar loves to do this now. Remember those homestead missions in RDR that were meant to be the calm before the storm that was the ending, but in practice were just boring and mundane? There, the mundanity was a desired thing for Marston where he could finally connect with his son and enjoy his life outside of outlawing, which is why what happened afterward was more effective than it would have been if we had no missions and it just passed over all of this in a cutscene.

In this case, these missions are to explore the mundanity of trying to connect with your spouse or kids who you are walled off from emotionally. This is great for helping to understand Michael's issues, but terrible for actual gameplay.

The worst mission is a semi-hidden one. All I'll say about that is that you have to wander the desert. That's it. And it sucks.

Anyway, if you pass up on this game because early on, it establishes Michael's boring home life to show, quite hands-on in fact, why he gets back into the heist game, you are really missing out.

I'm hanging in there for now. But, I actually don't recall that from RDR, as I got too bored with it before I was able to complete it. I've got higher hopes for GTAV. I enjoy driving in the game much more than I enjoyed riding a horse.

I'm really annoyed that there's time limits to get a Gold Medal on many of the missions.  Sometimes I like to cruise around and listen to the characters' banter, enjoy a song on the radio, or I swing by a gun shop to top off my ammo and armor.

More than likely a PC version will be out early next year.  I think the guess is sometime around February/March.  Using the dates for GTA 4 it was something like 200 days between the console and the PC version.  So following that trend it'll be out in time for a Steam Summer Sale.

Also forget the Borderlands 2 DLC, play the damn loot hunt!  Although the "prize" weapons are sorta crap I'm going to collect them and give them to friends who are just starting to play and just hit level 12.  I'm playing for the slim hopes of cash winnings.
