So, the download was the Sims instead of GTA?

Hah.  Suckers.  Now let me open up this PC port of Red Dead Redemption I found and***CARRIER LOST***

No thanks, I'm still too busy uploading viruses into Saints Row IV.

2013-10-22 10:02:13 AM
when does someone blame Rockstar for this? Surely if there was a legitimate port to PC for GTAV, then that would have been available to download illegally something that was virus infected right?

I'm trying to be patient, but the game isn't much fun so far. On one of the main missions, I was actually tasked with beating a kid in a bicycle race. I thought GTA stood for grand theft auto. I'm about to go back to Borderlands 2.

styckx: Good thing I'm behind 7 Mcafees

What Maccabees 7 might look like:

1
It also happened that seven brothers with their mother were arrested and tortured with whips and scourges by the king to force them to eat pork in violation of God's law.a
2
One of the brothers, speaking for the others, said: "What do you expect to learn by questioning us? We are ready to die rather than transgress the laws of our ancestors."
3
At that the king, in a fury, gave orders to have pans and caldrons heated.
4
These were quickly heated, and he gave the order to cut out the tongue of the one who had spoken for the others, to scalp him and cut off his hands and feet, while the rest of his brothers and his mother looked on.
5
When he was completely maimed but still breathing, the king ordered them to carry him to the fire and fry him. As a cloud of smoke spread from the pan, the brothers and their mother encouraged one another to die nobly, with these words:
6
"The Lord God is looking on and truly has compassion on us, as Moses declared in his song, when he openly bore witness, saying, 'And God will have compassion on his servants.'"b
7
After the first brother had died in this manner, they brought the second to be made sport of. After tearing off the skin and hair of his head, they asked him, "Will you eat the pork rather than have your body tortured limb by limb?"
8
Answering in the language of his ancestors, he said, "Never!" So he in turn suffered the same tortures as the first.
9
With his last breath he said: "You accursed fiend, you are depriving us of this present life, but the King of the universe will raise us up* to live again forever, because we are dying for his laws."c
10
After him the third suffered their cruel sport. He put forth his tongue at once when told to do so, and bravely stretched out his hands,
11
as he spoke these noble words: "It was from Heaven that I received these; for the sake of his laws I disregard them; from him I hope to receive them again."
12
Even the king and his attendants marveled at the young man's spirit, because he regarded his sufferings as nothing.
13
After he had died, they tortured and maltreated the fourth brother in the same way.
14
When he was near death, he said, "It is my choice to die at the hands of mortals with the hope that God will restore me to life; but for you, there will be no resurrection to life."
15
They next brought forward the fifth brother and maltreated him.
16
Looking at the king, he said:d "Mortal though you are, you have power over human beings, so you do what you please. But do not think that our nation is forsaken by God.
17
Only wait, and you will see how his great power will torment you and your descendants."
18
After him they brought the sixth brother. When he was about to die, he said: "Have no vain illusions. We suffer these things on our own account, because we have sinned against our God; that is why such shocking things have happened.
19
Do not think, then, that you will go unpunished for having dared to fight against God."
20
Most admirable and worthy of everlasting remembrance was the mother who, seeing her seven sons perish in a single day, bore it courageously because of her hope in the Lord.
21
Filled with a noble spirit that stirred her womanly reason with manly emotion, she exhorted each of them in the language of their ancestors with these words:
22
e "I do not know how you came to be in my womb; it was not I who gave you breath and life, nor was it I who arranged the elements you are made of.
23
Therefore, since it is the Creator of the universe who shaped the beginning of humankind and brought about the origin of everything, he, in his mercy, will give you back both breath and life, because you now disregard yourselves for the sake of his law."
24
Antiochus, suspecting insult in her words, thought he was being ridiculed. As the youngest brother was still alive, the king appealed to him, not with mere words, but with promises on oath, to make him rich and happy if he would abandon his ancestral customs: he would make him his Friend and entrust him with high office.
25
When the youth paid no attention to him at all, the king appealed to the mother, urging her to advise her boy to save his life.
26
After he had urged her for a long time, she agreed to persuade her son.
27
She leaned over close to him and, in derision of the cruel tyrant, said in their native language: "Son, have pity on me, who carried you in my womb for nine months, nursed you for three years, brought you up, educated and supported you to your present age.
28
I beg you, child, to look at the heavens and the earth and see all that is in them; then you will know that God did not make them out of existing things.* In the same way humankind came into existence.
29
Do not be afraid of this executioner, but be worthy of your brothers and accept death, so that in the time of mercy I may receive you again with your brothers."
30
She had scarcely finished speaking when the youth said: "What is the delay? I will not obey the king's command. I obey the command of the law given to our ancestors through Moses.
31
But you, who have contrived every kind of evil for the Hebrews, will not escape the hands of God.
32
We, indeed, are suffering because of our sins.f
33
Though for a little while our living Lord has been angry, correcting and chastising us, he will again be reconciled with his servants.
34
But you, wretch, most vile of mortals, do not, in your insolence, buoy yourself up with unfounded hopes, as you raise your hand against the children of heaven.
35
You have not yet escaped the judgment of the almighty and all-seeing God.
36
Our brothers, after enduring brief pain, have drunk of never-failing life, under God's covenant. But you, by the judgment of God, shall receive just punishments for your arrogance.
37
Like my brothers, I offer up my body and my life for our ancestral laws, imploring God to show mercy soon to our nation, and by afflictions and blows to make you confess that he alone is God.
38
Through me and my brothers, may there be an end to the wrath of the Almighty that has justly fallen on our whole nation."
39
At that, the king became enraged and treated him even worse than the others, since he bitterly resented the boy's contempt.
40
Thus he too died undefiled, putting all his trust in the Lord.
41
Last of all, after her sons, the mother was put to death.
42
Enough has been said about the sacrificial meals and the excessive cruelties.

Fear monger much?
How much did the industry pay you to slander downloading?

Off the top of my head, I'm going to guess that barely anyone downloaded the infected torrent.  Because only idiots download "too good to be true" files from unreputable uploaders.

Because that's how you get viruses.

This might be why Rockstar is in no real rush to port to PC. Also, they just made like a billion dollars with the console release. PC sales won't impress and can wait.

All the real gamers use consoles anyway so why would they port to PC?  They made a billion in console sales.  If they can get 1 million PC people that's at most $50 million in sales, not that $50 million isn't a lot but that's a drop in the bucket compared to the console sales.

I am one of those people who buys the console version while waiting for the PC version to come out because the graphics, draw distances and lack of mods on the console is so very disappointing.

For me I had a fantastic time in GTA V and have so far skipped the online experience and spent a good 70 hrs getting 88% completion and look forward to buying it on PC and getting online to get griefed by people who are much better than me before retiring of a private server of friends.

Yeah I gave up this weekend and went back to GW2.  Halloween stuff going on there and its pretty fun, whereas in GTA online all I can do is the same missions over and over and over and over.  And that wasn't so bad before, but now they screwed up making money on repeating them which angers me for some reason even though there is really nothing else left to buy except car upgrades after I win like 90 more races or some crap.  They better drop some cool shiat soon or I'm trading that thing in.

It gets better. The missions where you have to switch between characters to accomplish different tasks on a heist or a job are especially well done. I just did one last night where the three guys had to extract a dude being questioned on the 28th floor of a high rise. I had to fly a chopper up next to the building as Trevor, switch to Mike, rappel down to the floor the target's on and break the glass, then switch to Franklin, who was set up on a rooftop with a sniper rifle and help clear the floor of baddies, switch back to Mike to take out the stragglers Franklin couldn't get a bead on, switch back to Franklin to take out one of the choppers now swarming us, switch again....you get the idea. It was awesome.

......and....and then I did yoga.

It is a shame GFWL is shutting down, GTA5 players will miss out on the engaging social infrastructure it provided to GTA4.

Well they are dropping $500K into everyone's account as a "stimulus".

And yea, farking with the paydays was messed up. Especially since they did it completely unannounced (didn't even list it on the patch page). They finally issued an apology for doing that, but said they'll probably be keeping it that way to encourage doing other missions.

Anyway, I'm still having some fun with it, but I'm losing interest. I'm picking up Diablo III so my fiance and I can play that together. The co-op on it is supposed to be fantastic.

That one and the psuedo North Holywood Shootout mission both had me going "HELL YES THIS ROCKS THIS IS THE BEST GTA EVER!"

The torture scene made me uncomfortable. Like legit. And I'm basically a sociopath in videogames. Reminded me of having to pull the last trigger on the Boss in MGS3.

That's a good thing. The people you need to watch out for are the ones who enjoyed that scene and wanted to replay it for a gold rating!

It was also a great commentary on torture and Trevor basically hits the nail on the head.

**SPOILERS** (delete if quoting)
It also made shooting that asshole with Trevor at the end of the game really satsifying

I think they nerfed the military base with the last patch, it's super easy to steal a jet now. So I've taken to the skies to harass and annoy people for a while. But I'm a swell guy, so I tell the room I'm landing the jet at the airport if anyone wants to take it. Then I listen to the madness ensue on mic as they all start murdering each other on the way to the airport.

I could really care less about the stimulus.  All I can do with it is buy more car upgrades or ammo - I already bought a 220k house, since that one looks exactly the same as the 400k one.  Lame.

I do hear that Diablo is fun on the console, haven't played it but some friends online have and they really like it.

You're missing out on the:

Start game with just a 9mm and 30 rounds.  Get into a cheap family sedan.

Get chased around the map by three N-bomb screaming pre-pubescents from England, with suppressed machineguns (so the cops completely ignore them) in armored and bullet-proofed turbocharged sports cars, who have been playing the online version non-stop.

Said children are surprisingly terrible, and despite being out-gunned and out-numbered, this chase drags on for at least 30 minutes, because their fundamentals are farking terrible.

Eventually get killed, or get away from them, and join a gang-war deathmatch.

Observe said children rush into an open area and line up and shoot at each other, hoping their health lasts longer.

Next round, climb up to the roof, and take out four guys with customized M4s and body armor with a stock 9mm pistol.

Get called every homophobic and racial slur possible, because finding higher ground is "cheating."

Get vote-kicked from the game entirely.

You'd figure a master race wouldn't have to create a petition just to get a game.

I didn't think master races had to beg for something the console peasants already had.
