(Sportige)   It's hard to believe that some head coach was ever going to let Josh Freeman throw the ball 53 times in one game with someone named Adrian Peterson in the backfield, but apparently such a person exists   (sportige.com) divider line 146

53 times when he hasn't even had a chance to learn the names of the receivers yet.

Yucky game played with yucky players, except Allen's sack of Eli was quite impressive.

Because the O-line is not skilled enough to block against most High School teams.

2013-10-22 10:49:48 AM
Steve Young trashed the coaching decisions by the Vikings. I couldn't argue.

And I don't care if Rick Reilly was right, I wanted Ray Lewis to pile drive him into the turf. Hard.

2013-10-22 10:51:36 AM
Christ, that was a horrible game....just beyond boring, with two shiatty teams competing to see who could suck just a little less.

Had to laugh when I saw the bar at our local bowling alley, which has a big to-do for every MNF game, with food and prizes and all that.  They usually get a fair sized crowd, but I peeked in last night just before halftime and there was not a single person in the place except the bartender...kinda tells you what people thought of this game.

2013-10-22 10:52:42 AM
Peterson couldn't really get it going last night either.  It was hard to watch.

2013-10-22 11:00:05 AM
Yeah, Peterson was a non-factor in that game as soon as it became clear that the Vikings had absolutely no passing attack (which was pretty much immediately).  They could have handed off to him all night and the end result would have been practically identical.

If Freeman could have completed even a couple semi-deep balls it would have changed their running game completely.

2013-10-22 11:00:53 AM
that game was just...so hard to watch.

as a Vikes fan I would just like to say the following. Ahem. Josh Freeman is going to work out but not after 2 weeks with the team. What is really at work here is the complete and total failure of the coaching staff. Musgrave needs to be fired NOW! Frazier I believe is a good coach but he is loyal to his coordinators to a fault. Singletary has the defensive schemes of a parks and rec league or Pop Warner coach. The only positive thing right now is special teams, and with Blair Walsh injured even that is getting to be a let down. Freeman is not to blame here. I actually think I will like him at QB. At least he can throw beyond 10 yards. Now get AP and Patterson the DAMN BALL!

I thought it was awesome hearing Tirico and Gruden bash these two teams. Bad teams are bad.

2013-10-22 11:03:12 AM
I thought Freeman did a good job considering the circumstances.

2013-10-22 11:05:37 AM
The highlight of today is the faint din of weeping wafting over the border.  If it's perceptible here in Milwaukee, I can only imagine the racket out by Chippewa Falls.

/Proven fact--Minnesota sucks.
//Just the sports teams--the state is OK.

2013-10-22 11:06:04 AM
And gawd, what an ugly game.  Even John Gruden couldn't find anything nice to say about anyone by about half way through the third quarter.

Although Mrs. Hobnail and I decided that Coughlin face is superior to Manning face for entertainment value.

2013-10-22 11:07:43 AM
Both teams are bad, so vote NASCAR.

Seriously. The guy hasn't been around long enough to where the bathrooms are, let alone what routes people are running.

It was pretty hilarious to watch, so there's that

I didn't watch this snorefest, but AP did have 13 carries last night, it's not like he was completely ignored. If the Giants were playing all 11 guys within 15 yards of the ball and daring Josh Freeman to beat them, another 10-15 AP carries for 17-30 additional yards probably wasn't going to be a game changer.

This; the Giants made a statement:  We want Josh Freeman to beat us.  They called it right and won.

I didn't realize that Vikings fans liked CP so much. I mean, not that there's anything wrong with that, but Chris Hansen might want you to take a seat over there...

I watched the whole game. I am sure there were worse games than that one, but that is the worst one I have ever seen. The players should be embarrassed.

That game was like watching the people who did Transmorphers redo "They Live" and just renam it "Cripple Fight".

I cant speak for Vikings fans only myself but what I see from CP is ability and speed. But for whatever reason the coaches try to force the ball down Simpson and Jennings throats. CP burns it up as soon as he gets the ball hes got potential that goes way beyond our veteran WR stable> I mean if were going to have a losing season make this guy a franchise receiver and not just another slot jockey.

2013-10-22 11:26:27 AM
That wasn't the *worst* Monday night game ever, but its top 10 and maybe top 5 material.

Freeman hasn't been there long enough to try 50+ passes. And even AP can't run well against 9 in the box on every farking play.

To quote one of the Harbaughs: That was just poor.

Frasier and Musgrave need to go, and clean out that front office. What you have now is a train wreck of embarrasing proportion.

Wow, it must have gotten truly awful. I just made a comment over in the other thread that ESPN never, ever admits that they got stuck serving up a shiat sandwich, but I didn't watch any of the second half.

Side note: Watching them on the field together, it made me wonder whether Carolina should be the ranked as high as they are.  The Panthers have wins against these two crippled mutts and the awful Rams.  They should beat TB on Thursday, but 1-8 for the rest of the season may be a realistic projection.

I had some friends who worked with the team (Vols). Their description was, "He's dumb as shiat, doesn't know the playbook, doesn't run good routes but he's too talented to ignore." I can't really vouch for their description as I never met the guy, but if that's true it might explain in part why he's not getting looks. He's probably down there as option 3 or 4 because they don't trust him to be where he's supposed to be, especially on timing routes.

One of the announcers stated late in the game that it seemed like a preseason game, which was spot on.
At halftime I was convinced that Hakeem Nicks was openly attempting to throw the game.
The most important question of the night about the game would be: Is Peyton Hillis worth picking up as a running back in fake football?

As far as MNF stinkers go, this may even be worse than Titans/Jaguars in 2010.

Depends on Jacobs hamstring

Jacobs may be back next week, so it would be unlikely he sees too many touches in the near future.

I had wondered where Peyton Hillis went.  He seemed to be on a Kenny Powers career trajectory, just in the NFL.

Also, does Freeman not know how to run an option or a bootleg or something?  He is decently athletic enough to do something with his feet to get a little more space from the defense.

Also also, every NYG receiver needs to be shiatcanned... that performance was just awful.

Adrian Peterson was getting worse yardage than Trent Richardson last night.  Yes, they were stacking the box against him, but every team does that, and Peterson's usually able to get 4 YPC on them.
