I heard a lot of that kind of thing on the TV network news as well. In any given debate their is usually one side that is right, or at least "more right" than the other.  Lazy reporting and fear of blowback from the crazies drives most of this I think.

CNN was doing everything they could to deflect reality.

Fox News sucks because they are an arm of the GOP and full of dishonest liars and bullshiat.

CNN sucks because they are CNN.

The only thing worth watching on CNN is that Anthony Bourdain show, which you can watch on Netflix under Parts Unknown.

They're aware most people regard them as a farking joke and so they're terrified of alienating any remaining viewers, which means they'll bend over backwards to avoid blaming one party more than the other. They don't see that horrible journalism like this is EXACTLY why they're regarded as a farking joke.

CNN is a bad news station. Which is why no one watches it. MSNBC fits a similar profile. FOX news is saturated with lies and narratives that fit republican wrrrrrgarbl. And we wonder why Fox has the highest ratings.

MSNBC is news intended for people who already get their news somewhere else.

I've been enjoying some of Al Jazeera's programming since switching to Dish. It's refreshing to finally hear from an organization with an actual liberal bias... might help move the "center" back toward the center.

I just like that AJAM actually airs news.  News!  I learned shiat about the Columbian FARC rebels last week.  It was interesting, and depressing, and informative.

Sorry subby, you tipped your hand right there in your headline. FOX never does that. GOP has no fault, is never bad.

And CNN, you are trying too hard to show a "balanced" coverage so you don't get accused of being part of liberal media. How I miss your days of international reports by Peter Arnett. Today we got Wolf Blitzer. Sigh.
I really wish my crappy cable company carried CNN International Edition at least.

CNN has really tried to dumb itself down in the last 10 years. I hadn't watched for a while, and tuned in recently. Had to double check that I wasn't watching FOX.

They started doing it after "slimdown" didn't happen. At the end it was a series of pearl-clutching about overall government disfunction.

Maybe liberal bias in that reality has a liberal bias. I think it's just that they actually bother with journalism, there's a set of standards, and outside of op eds, which are always biased, they do a pretty good job of sticking to those standards, in their articles at least(I don't watch TV news).

I'm surprisingly pleased with them, I haven't seen actual journalism form a news network in a very long time, and they're doing a great job of it. I know too many people who dismiss them because of their name, but then again, they're Fox News watchers anyway, so I don't really bother with them.

The psychology is simple - people will turn off news that challenges their beliefs. FOX news decided to corner the market on Republican viewers, the other two try and catch the broad spectrum of varying degrees of centre and centre-left. "Both sides are bad" is a hedge to not lose the right-leaning voters, that's all.

The oddest part about their shutdown coverage was that they didn't just say "both sides are bad" but actually seemed to blame the Democrats more than the GOP. They brought a lot of democratic guests on and essentially shouted "why aren't you guys negotiating? the republicans are willing to negotiate but you aren't!" at them.

Been saying this from day one of the shutdown.  CNN is in the pocket of the GOP is my guess, they just don't pander as blatantly as FOX.  They stood to gain nothing from presenting a "BSAB" narrative, but did it anyway; despite the financial harm to the nation, despite the financial harm to the multimillionaire ownership of CNN due to the market instability, despite the potential for catastrophic economic meltdown if things went past default, they still held fast to it.

CNN is FOX lite.

Actually CNN is pro-corporate derp without the nutso "culture wars" crap.  Pro-corporate news is more pervasive than any left or right bias.

They never take any position that Time Warner wouldn't take.

Corporate News Network is corporate.

Which means it reflexively bows to the status quo, never bashes big biz, never asks hard questions of anyone for fear of offending and losing access and lazily reports both sides talking points verbatim.

A whole different ball game from FOX which is lies, misinformation and propaganda designed to advance one political party over another.

CNN has been largely unwatchable for years.

Slightly better?

Are you smoking crack mixed with meth mixed with heroin mixed with gasoline mixed with polybutylene?

The Tea Party are retards. MAJOR RETARDS. Like, erupting-in-flames, pants-on-head, diarrhea-of-the-mouth retards.  And controlled by the Insane Koch Bros.  The libs are disorganized and not orchestrated nearly as much by big business, and their policies don't try to bring us back to the 19th century.

Seriously, dude, one side believes in progress, the other sides gets upset when someone says that education policy in their state is progressive.  Seriously, they're retarded.  They think Jesus rode on dinosaurs.  The Dems don't believe that.  They believe in helping people, not Biblically-induced pants-sh*tting retardation that the Tea Party does.

In summation: not only are they retarded, but I am going to go out on a limb and say that people who don't recognize that the Tea Party is retarded, can also be... well, you know from my favorite adjective where I'm going with this.
