Was Steve Jobs a health care expert or something?

/way to conflate the website problems with the ACA, "liberal media"

2013-10-21 05:04:48 PM
How about single payer?  We could have that tomorrow if Congress wasn't bribed so easily.

2013-10-21 05:07:11 PM
Was it his pancreas?  I thought it was his liver.  Either way, if Apple had been involved, sure it would work but cost twice as much as competitors.  They should have gotten Amazon to do this farker.

2013-10-21 05:07:39 PM
He'd probably wait until it was fixed by someone else then add a rounded edge and claim he did it.

I have farted better articles than what I just read.

One thing that contributed to Job's demise was him being a hard head delaying therapy recommended by his doctors and instead opting for Diet, meditation, Eastern Herbal treatments, acupuncture and spiritualism and delaying traditional treatment until the cancer got a foothold in his body.

He would've put a 30-40% brand markup on it, and convinced college kids it was cool.

2013-10-21 06:14:59 PM
The headline made me think of organ transplant teams digging up Steve Jobs and putting a new pancreas in him, which is sort of a funny mental image until you realize there's probably a portion of his estate that is dedicated to that very activity.

2013-10-21 06:27:01 PM
I chuckled. Well done.

That's what I thought.

Please shut the fark up!!!

Oh and this too!

Well they conflate someone who is good at making design decisions with being someone good at implementing technology so what the hell why not get it all farked up.

He would have marketed it with silhouettes getting medical procedures to snappy tunes under the motto, "Insure Different."

2013-10-21 07:05:10 PM
He would have offered better marketing with less functionality. This is the dumbest non-wingnut headline I've ever seen, people who buy into the Jobs cult of personality are some of the dumbest in the country.

So we would listen to some jackass who was lucky enough to catch a very deadly cancer early enough to fight, and then ignore all medical advice until there was nothing left to do except die.

Why do we treat this lunatic like some kind of genius, again?

Steve Jobs would steal the interface from Xerox. Oh wait, Xerox probably never made a health care system interface.

Steve Jobs would make you wait 5 months while seeing if the herbal diet cured your cancer while refusing chemotherapy, and then use his fortune to knock himself up a few knotches on the transplant list after he lets his cancer get to the point where chemo is ineffective.

2013-10-21 07:14:24 PM
Steve Jobs once answered "unions" when asked what was run with California's educational system.  I'm sure he had similar thoughts about what was is wrong with health care in this country.

/he was onstage with Michael Dell at the time who cringed at the response

A low-cost multi-tiered product with safeguards to protect the consumer is anathema to Steve Jobs. Apple's vision of health care is an empty hospital where patients spend thousands of dollars to stand in line and be told by a 'Medi-Wizard' that broken legs can't be mended but they'll sell you a wheelchair.

2013-10-21 07:15:23 PM
Jobs would state that there's no problem with the website, and it's not their fault if you're logging in the wrong way.

Steve Jobs would have had Xerox cure his cancer. Xerox--is there anything they can't do?

Hey guys, I think I'm getting sick.  Should I talk to a doctor according to what my employer-based health insurance dictates, or should I e-mail my company's IT department?  Their website is way better than Kaiser Permanente's

He'd scrap healthcare altogether and replace it with a mandatory vegetarian diet.

2013-10-21 07:28:53 PM
He would outsource it to China, then charge 50% more than the competition.

Exactly, the site is an outward-facing manifestation of our vision; changing it in a desperate attempt at satisfying the mewling public would be a betrayal of the ideals on which Obamacare was founded. If all you're looking for is something blandly functional atop a brutish database, I'm sure there are dozens of other places happy to help.

Is it superficial "to say that if only Steve Jobs or Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos were in charge of these enterprises they'd work better?"

Yes. Neither Bezos nor Jobs had to design a website that would be required to immediately accommodate up to 45 million unique visitors. They started out slow. A website serving as the portal to a major government program doesn't have that luxury.

Having dealt with the evolution of iTunes (apparently it was largely Steve's baby, he kept scuttling plans to make it work more sanely), I think healthcare.gov could well have been worse.
